well les has already said he is not interested in the job..correct? I mean I am not against him leaving but he seems to be a man of his word...

Probably his last chance to get it. If I were in his shoes, with the heat he is taking here, I would go for it. If things didn't go well a few years in, it would be time to hang it up anyway.
