Ha! You are being disingenuous if you are honestly saying that there is nothing to the Cam Newton situation.

His dad admitted to the allegations but there were no sanctions levied against Newton or AU. Even though NCAA rules EXPLICITLY prohibit any money, or discussions of money, being passed between a university and an agent of a player. Explain the lax enforcement of NCAA policy in this case...if you don't mind.

I'll be glad too.

Under the wording of the NCAA guidelines, a parent soliciting money without knowledge of the athlete could not be met with sanctions unless the NCAA tried to enforce the "spirit of the rules", such as what occurred in Jeremiah Masoli's case, which as well all know was reversed upon appeal. This was the loophole people referred to.

As stories cleared up gradually between parties involved, the NCAA found that Cecil Newton did try to solicit money from MSU, and Auburn's compliance agreed with their findings and in a cooperative manner they followed protocol in rules violation, with Cam being ruled ineligible for less than a day before the NCAA reinstated him.

The NCAA also found within several phone records and e-mail records that Kenny Rogers had no contact with anyone from Auburn and that every involved party suggested that Auburn had no role in any wrongdoing.

So yeah, what we were looking at was Newton losing eligibility based on solicitation, but the NCAA ruled that wasn't happening based on numerous factors.

Now if you want to criticize the NCAA in the ruling, criticize their stupid freaking rule that allowed such a loophole.
