From my experience, which is pretty damn extensive as far as La goes, 1000 is the least you're going to spend for a good lease. You can spend a hell of a lot more then that and still get a turd. IMHO, your best bet is to find some guys to go in with you, find some acreage to lease and go it alone. It's a LOT of work and it's going to take 4-5 years before your shite's together, but it's def the best way to go.

yea thats what the plan is, figured id just see if I could find anything interesting. And its hard to swing a prime duck blind and a good lease on a college budget.

I hear that. We were paying $15,000/yr to hunt 3k acres of marsh. Biggest deer killed was 140 class. Most were 100-130" bucks. But it was close to home and a hell of alot of fun
