It was bullshite that he didn't even try to break anything up, even if he wasn't going to toss his gloves off and fight.

Next time someone tries to mix it up with him, you can bet his teammates will be looking the other way.

I remember when we had a minor league team here in Lafayette, everyone pretty much went to see the fights, they had no idea what was going on when they were actually playing

The goalie never gets into a fight, so... In fact, they always skate away when scrums like that happen in front of the net (I don't mean actual fights, but kind of the "get in eachother's face" thing. If you watch hockey, you know what I'm talking about).

And that was complete BS from the white team. Many non-hockey fans don't realize it, but (normal) hockey fights actually serve a purpose, they don't just happen, and they even have etiquette, as well. That was just complete thuggery (word?) and a joke.

incorrect the proper thing to do is skate to centre ice and engage the other goalie...come on man

You know what I mean.

About once in a season (more than one thousand games, for the 30 teams total) two goalies will fight eachother (still never against a forward/d-man on the other team, at least never that I've seen, anyway). Other than that, the goalies avoid all types of fights, scrums, etc.

I did. And it confirmed my thoughts. Goalies very, very rarely get into fights, and when they do its with eachother. I said "never" in my first post really meaning "seldom" as in very infrequently. My second post I put what I literally meant.

ahhh but you were correct on initial post regarding etiquette but in an all out bench clearing brawl Goalie takes other Goalie...Gary Buttman's NHL doesnt tolerate bench clearing brawls thus chicken shite cheap shots and stickwork are de rigueur...

Good point that I didn't take into account it was a huge brawl (mainly cause you hardly ever see it ). But I was mainly responding to the point that "next time he's in a fight, see if his teammates stick up for him". Well, that was realistically the only chance for a fight that he had. And teammates always stick up for their goalie no matter what. That's what often leads to those minor after the whistle scrums at the front of the net, someone driving hard at the crease or poking at the goalie when he has the puck covered.

And you know I'm not a Bettman fan, as well, but I'm not exactly sure you can go around condoning bench clearing brawls.

I would like to know what started that, maybe a previous game, and then what happened the next game.
