God knows most of the major BCS schools can pony up just as much cash as the next one to keep you happy. If you are winning and being paid well there isn't much of a reason to pick up your family and move them halfway across the country to start a new job.

True, but take for instance Stoops at OU. Say Florida offred him at 3 mil a year. You don't think that OU would counter that? Of course they would, and it isn't like UF is head and shoulders above OU.
Now jumping from someplace like Syracuse to Florida would be another story, but typically something like that wouldn't be considered a "homerun" hire in the first place unless the guy was some superstud coach. And guess what, superstud coaches at small programs don't always transition well to big time jobs (see Gill, Turner for further reading).
