Good hire for the gators IMO, I think CUM quitting will prove to be great for tigers next few years.

Kind of an odd hire.. no major head coaching experience..

Big gamble with a potentially huge pay out though. Anyone know what kind of offense he favors?

I think he is a great DC, but I have my doubts about him as a head coach. Then again, I didn't think Pelini would do well as a head coach.

He'll do well with the defensive talent already there. Will be interesting to see what he does with the offense.

Curious hire IMO

I truly believe Muschamp is overrated. It will show in time. All the talent that Texas has on defense they could not stop anyone running the ball, yet throwing the football. Petrino would have been a better hire or any other offensive minded guy like CUM. With the talent FL has...they should have taken a chance with Okla. State offensive coordinator. This hire is a relief for the SEC.

This hire will be the demise of the FL program. He needs to hire a serious OC...Mack Brown is considering Tim Brewer who used to be on his staff and a former Univ. of Minn. coach.
I liked this hire for LSU dominance over FL from the east, and so will other schools.

They are not as talented at defense as you may think, especially at DT.

Your evalution sucks. UT would not have made the national title game last year without Muschamp coaching that defense.

The point of the matter is that those 4 and 5 star recruits were not coached up. Texas reloads as well as any other college in the nation.

For the record, Florida has always done well with an offensive minded coach, as opposed to the defensive minded coach...just look up their history and you will see.

Muschamp left UT because he knew the next AX that was going to come was going to be his head. That is the way it goes...The head coach either fires the OC or DC and work it from there before the alumni calls for his head.

Another Saban disciple makes the big time.

Muschamp - Florida
Fisher - Florida State
Dooley - Tennessee

This was a shocker. I had not heard his name mentioned at all as a candidate. He was the coach in waiting at Texas but how long was he to wait? I wonder who he will select as offensive coach.

IMO, he is still an unproven HC..decent DC..maybe, but not close to great. His D has allowed close to 30 points to anybody who is anybody.
