I certainly hope so. People claim he was overrated and fizzled as the year went. They say he doesn't have the stats to match up with other positions. CB doesn't have nearly the opportunities as a LB or DL to put up numbers. The fact that teams literally quit throwing at him and could not succeed is enough evidence to show how good he really was on D.

I love the guy, he's as talented as they come but I don't think he had as great a season as some people are giving him credit for.
The bama and arky game he allowed some catches and touchdowns and then against auburn he played a pretty poor game, especially tackling wise.
Sure he changed the games in ways we will never know bc teams respected him so much but I'm just saying he wasn't dominant.

other teams just went right at him.... I love attacking the best corner in a game!
PP was just matched up against receivers that will be playing on sundays as well.... He will be a great one in the future!

The slant that he got scored on against Bama was just a very well thrown ball. That ball is thrown anywhere else and I think PP bats its down. Julio is also a smart WR he put his body between PP and that ball.

Without the starting field position he consistently provided for us in his role as kick returner, I doubt our record would be what it is. Yes, there was a good blocking scheme by the ST staff, and it was generally well executed, but without PP, things would have been much different.

My final thoughts on Patrick Peterson. Patrick Peterson can be this generations shut down cornerback in the NFL that Night Train Lane was in the fifties or Mel Blount was in the 70′s, but he must improve his ability when it comes to shutting down #1 wide receivers. The statistics with #1 wide receivers that I displayed show that Peterson still has some work, but is going to be a very productive cornerback in the NFL based on what Patrick Peterson can do for a cornerback.

these are the examples the Pats site is using, and they're misleading. the only TD that PP was actually covering these guys on was Julio's this yr.
he wasn't really in the rotation yet at UF in 08, and he pretty well kept Julio and AJ in check last yr.
he and Julio have had some pretty good battles over their 3 yrs though.

This board's IQ is incredible. PP is the best DB in CFB and probably the best DB in CFB in recent years. He is not overrated.
Can I make a list of all the "PP is overrated" gang so I can start seeing them next year posting,
"what is wrong with our secondary"

I wouldn't be surprised to see Chavis back to a soft scheme since he won't have a PP/Claiborne combo next year.

And Trent Richardson hasn't been the same since PP7 took him out. And Trent Richardson is a BEAST!!
