would almost be funny just to watch the absolute meltdown here. The guy hasn't even enrolled yet.

And please note I said ALMOST.

Thanks for the insight Lester. It really means something coming from someone who cuts down high school kids on a message board for shits and giggles.

If he really is as good as he is made out to be, I hate the thought of him having to play in Crowton's offensive nonsense.

Mettenberger will not be considered a bust until he throws his first incomplete pass.

If he throws one behind a receiever for an incompletion, there will be murmuring to be sure.

I agree, sorta. I don't think it's a head-in-arse problem more so than a mixture of enthusiasm for the team, gullibility in the hyperbole of recruiting and desperation having witnessed a championship caliber team turned into a "pretty good" team based largely on the performance of the incumbents.

Instead of insulting our fans who choose to be optimistic, it's probably best to just remind them that he hasn't taken a snap in SEC play yet and there is probably no chance he comes in and does a Newton. But the rest I agree with.

I havent insulted anyone buddy.

Ive read 5 threads today saying "does this make us national title and SEC favorites?"

look, the kid had a great year in JUCO this past year. But its unrealistic to think that he comes in and puts up those same numbers.

In theory he could be better than what we had this year(they were that bad) and we could still lose 3-4 games.

2011 is a different year. 2010 will be an afterthought.

we wont know until Mett steps on the field and proves he is what everyone thinks.

THIS, I entirely agree with.

Not a big deal but you said they have their heads up their arse. I just think they are irrationally exuberant right now. I'll take that over the negativity that spread through last off-season like a cancer.

I don't think Mett is any kind of savior. I do think he may be better than any of the QBs on the roster, and he has college playing experience. With the returning team, I do have plenty more optimism right now than I had at this time last year.

They did it with Russell Shepherd, too. But Mettenberger at least has some college experience.

Who is anointing him as savior? I think most are happy that he is likely to be somewhat of an upgrade.

After he throws an incomplete in a game, or Shepard drops a screen pass. They will boo him off the field and he will write a letter or Tweet a message begging the fans not to boo him and that he is still learning.

Then we will find some other recruit to idolize. the rant has more false prophets and messiahs than any other religion in the world.
