Would Shepard's contribution be any better with a really good QB?

I say yes b/c he would catch more balls on the move, like Arky'S receivers with Mallet--15 yrs turns to 70 yards quick.

Seriously, does he have 5 TDs in his career, <100 touches?

I remain baffled by his lack of involvement over last 2 years.

Same with Tolliver throughout his career. Very underutilized IMO. Tolliver will likely be a big time receiver in the pros, but not sure what the future holds for Shepard.

Still waitin to see him fill a Percy Harvin type role.

He's already halfway done with his career

That's depressing

HE SHOULD BE THE QB.

Or at least the change of pace guy to JL.

I dunno, lately i've been thinking tolliver is an underachiever not underutilized.

I'd be happy if they could just design a play to him besides jet sweep right jet sweep left, bubble screen right bubble screen left.

I was just talking about this. I think what happened is we saw Shepard's high school highlights on youtube and were all foaming at the mouth. He was a man running amongst boys in high school. But the only problem is that he is now in college now. He's not playing against a bunch of boys anymore, and he's not gonna have big wide open gaps and wedges to run through. He was even chased from behind a few weeks ago and we've been told that if he's wide open, nobody in the SEC is going to catch him. That's just not true. Even Early Doucet made game winning contributions as an underclassmen with all star catches. Shepard drops the damn ball more often than not. And maybe the problem is that he's a receiver right now and needs to be a qb. I don't know, but whatever the deal is, he really hasn't been that big of a contribution.

And let me finish by saying I really, really like the kid. He loves LSU and is a committed player. I want to see him make that turn next year, but this year was kind of a sophomore jinx year for him.

Early also had 4 years of playing WR by the time he was a freshman at LSU. This is Shepard's first.

We need a QB who can make quick decisions and hit Shep in stride in the slant route within 2 seconds of the snap. Think Graham Harrell to Crabtree. They lit it up that way. This puts Shep behind the line and in space when he gets the ball.

Everyone's contribution would be enhanced by a really good QB. That's what the best players do; make everyone around them better. And yes, put Mallet on LSU's team and they're undefeated now. Two very winable games the Tigers lost this year.

He makes to many mistakes at WR because he doesn't know the plays so you think it would be better if he played QB. One more offseason with Billy G will make a huge difference with him and moving into the number 2 WR spot.

It is a problem. LSU seems to consistently field 3 5-star blue chip recruits at a time, year after year.

But they never seem to live up to their hype. I am always expecting Julio Jones, AJ Green, Calvin Johnson type players when you get the top WR recruit in the country. They turn out to be late 2nd, 3rd or 4th round picks.

Remember Early Doucet/Xavier Carter? Lafell, Tolliver is done now (expecting a lot more this season), RR and RS will be gone soon. All blue chips.

I like Randle. He should be solid, but again, nothing like the 3 above.

I think Shepard is misused. Not sure how to use him though. Maybe he just isn't Percy Harvin.

He was caught from behind in the Bama game, don't remember seeing harvin get caught.

You would think a blue chip, or at least highly touted QB would be drooling over coming to LSU to throw to that track team that is consistently fielded.

But they don't. We havent gotten a solid pro-style recruit to turn out since Flynn. Zach Lee was a bummer, and Jarrett Lee was a bust. Where are our Aaron Murray, Ryan Mallett, Matt Stafford, type qbs? Ideal for the this offense.

I guess changing the offense would be ideal for this offense too.

I loved the way that Nevada offense looks. (Only half way kidding with that)

Last year we had to call a time out 50% of the time he went on offense because he didn't know the play.

This year, we don't know what to do with him.

Yes, in addition to playing WR and RB. I can't find anything suggesting that RS ever caught a ball in a game before coming to lsu.
