People blaming the coaches for the Aubie loss...

Our defenders were in position to make multiple big plays in the backfield, and for the most part we could have at least held them to short gains. This shows me that we had a solid defensive game plan.
However, the defenders missed a ton of tackles. This shows poor execution by the players on the field.
The coaches cannot make the tackles for the players. And don't say that the coaching indirectly resulted in them missing the tackles! Some days players just have poor performances. Look at Newton today. He is a great player, even though he's getting owned today, and our defense is great even though it got abused against Aubie.
However, this does not always mean we should immediately fire Chavis, Crowton, or Miles.
Wake up and smell the coffee!

:kige:
However, our offensive game plan was horrendous. We played not to lose, instead of attacking Auburn's weakness. McElroy just passed for 300 yards in a half. Arkansas' backup QB passed for almost 400 yards in about 2 1/2 quarters. Our offensive philosphy for the Auburn game was poor.

400+ on the ground. Can't chalk all those up to missed tackles.

It looks like Bama is straight-lining it to Cam when he's running the zone read. Our guys let him sit back and make the read then allow him to pick and choose his holes.

And still only gave up 24 points. So many here are creaming themselves over the job Bama is doing but Auburn already has 14 points...let's wait to see what the total is at the end of the game before making any judgments. Also, please note the difference that the Bama offense is making in the game. In spite of a lackluster offense our defense still had the game tied at 17-17 midway through the 4th Quarter.

Bama has better containment on the edges. I've seen the Dline run up the middle on both sides and then cut outside leaving the nose tackle up the middle straight to the QB. Our guys played on their heels guessing.

If the truth hurts
it should.

But there has to be something wrong about the way we defend the spread becasue both Auburn and Ole Miss ran the spread on us and torched us.

You are an idiot.

People just can't accept the fact that Chavis has trouble defending the spread.

I'm sorry you are correct. Losing those three games really hurt LSU in the polls. My bad.

Doc- I am with you...we were torched by Newton & Masoli...both spread QBs! Why is that being a nega-Tiger to speak the truth?? Chief has not figured out how to stop the spread! Glad we didn't play Michigan, Robinson would have had 800 yards offense on us (Chief's defense)...

Won one lost one. What does it matter now that the games have been played?

But we didn't. What purpose does make believe bashing do but to somehow make you feel that you are some sort of football expert?
And even you have to admit that 800 yards is fricking stupid.

bad tackling= attention to details, which is one of Les's biggest weaknesses

No they weren't. You might need to watch it again.
Auburn averaged 8.5 yards per attempt. You have no fricking shot of averaging 8.5 yards an attempt if defenders are in proper position. We may have had 1 guy in position to make a play, but that was it. 1 missed tackle and you give up a huge play versus our defense.
The only thing you can put on the players, is effort. I thought the defensive effort versus Auburn was very poor. Tackling, and being in proper position is on the coaches. Basic fundamentals, such as tackling needs to be practiced daily.

It's pretty uncommon for a defense to be able to handle any offense it sees. With that said we went 2-1 in those games. On a side note, we let up 24 points to AU. Bama has allowed 21 with 4:25 left to go in the 3rd. Only one other team allowed less points to AU than LSU.
