Ah another episode of the "Chris Paul 2nd Half Disappearance Show"

I have season tickets and have watched Chris Paul play almost every game since his rookie season. I have never seen him play this poorly in his entire career. He is passing up wide open shots and second guessing nearly every shot he attempts. The mismatch that he had against Blake Griffin two nights ago where he chose to dance around for 10 seconds, pass up 3 shot opportunities, and then pass the ball out with 2 seconds left on the shot clock causing a violation was by far the most embarrassing moment of his career in my opinion.
The worst part is that he has been nearly 100% irrelevant in almost every game this season during the 2nd half. Tonight was a game that he should have put his team on his back and carried the load, instead he took only 3 shot attempts in the 2nd half (0 for 3 shooting), while the best point guard in the world Deron Williams took a total of 18 shot attempts and finished with 26 points and 11 assist.
Truth be told I think Paul's career as a top player in the NBA is done. For anyone who has watched him play from day one can see that he simply just doesn't have it anymore. Something isn't right and I'm willing to bet that he is still playing hurt. However its an injury that will never go away. That surgery he opted to have will without a doubt shorten his career and has obviously taken away most of his explosiveness on offense.

I don't think we're anywhere close to "we're sinking" mode, but I would agree that CP hasn't had much of a late game impact this year.
I DO think this has to do with how unsuccessful this has been over the course of his career. Think about it, outside of 07-08 Paul has been relied on to win games down the stretch. If we can get DWest and our role players/bench to come up big in the second, that's even more versatility we will sport come April/May.

A championship has not been won when the best player on your team is a point guard, just saying.

and having to rely on David West to score is even worse. West is a good player, but a 3rd scoring option at best. He is basically a poor mans Amare

This is true. The recent trade and moves for saving money all lead me to believe that we are trying to land a big time player.

On most NBA teams David West would be a 3rd scoring option, not a number 1 or number 2 scoring option like he is on the Hornets. West is a good player, but undersized at his position, doesn't play defense, and tries to do way too much with the ball. However in fairness to him he is forced into that role so offensively he's doing the best he can. Like I said West is pretty much just a poor mans Amare or even a poor mans Chris Bosh.

Now this I do not agree with. Since you have had season tickets since Paul was a rookie, can you tell me who Paul has had to play alongside with that is relevant? Bottom line is the Hornets have never had a big 3 or a 1-2 punch that can be dominant. It is a shame that Paul has never had a true big man or 1-2 "real" players that can run with him up the court.
