Can someone explain why AU beating Bama would help LSU?

I can't see it. Our biggest hurdle (besides winning out) is that SC beat AU in the SECG. If AU comes into the game with a loss it won't matter. No way AU makes a BCS game with 2 back to back losses. The beat SC and go as an automatic.

Is there something about a remote shot at the NCG on the line? If so, I would prefer the safe path and go to a BCS game if we win out. I so want TCU.

It doesn't help LSU whatsoever. Root for the 5 foot midget. A barn win over Bama and loss to the chickens in the worst thing that could possibly happen.

Way I see it is that AU running the table puts them in the NC. That leaves the SUgar to take a one loss LSU. If SC beats a AU, the sugar takes SC due to SEC ties and LSU is left in limbo. If AU can drop a game to Bama, then beat SC in SECCG, they may not make the NC, thereby going to the Sugar and again, leaving LSU in limbo.

That's my understanding anyway.

ETA: And AU is the only chance for the SEC to put a team in the NC game. They'll probably get the death penalty anyway, but still.....

The way I see it. I remember reading where we want AU to lose to Bama and win the SECG. Not sure what that would open up for us.

The big if is IF we win out. Arky has me worried. If Mallett is on and we give him time, it could be a tough. Not excited about getting in an offensive shootout with anyone this year.

I don't see what the hell that would do for us. Maybe I'm missing something.

If we can't make the MNC then this is the scenario I'm hoping for.

And hopefully this means Auburn to the sugar bowl. Which would open up an opportunity for LSU to go to any of the other 3 BCS bowls. Ive been to Nola and the sugar bowl plenty of times. I wanna do something different.

Do we definitely get an at large somewhere else though? Especially with the invasion of the non AQ's? It looked to me like the Sugar is the safe bet for a BCS bowl game.

If Auburn wins out they go to the NC (I would rather them than TCU vs Oregon). Where does a one loss SEC team ranked #5 or higher at the end of the season go? That's the scenario I want and what most talking heads are saying. I don't want to go to the Orange Bowl to play ACC.

We don't have a real shot at the NC, even if we did we would probably lose with our offense.

If they forfeit their games, then they sure won't go to the Sugar. I somehow don't think the Sugar would take a 2 loss(or will it be 3?) SC ranked lower than LSU. Sugar seems a safer deal. Even if Auburn forfeited their games, I still don't believe we would go to the NC. Probably TCU vs. Oregon. shite who knows.

Auburn losing to Bama almost guarantees LSU a BCS game as long as we win out. If Auburn wins the SECCG with 1 loss, they go to the Sugar, while 11-1 LSU would possibly be ranked in the top 4 of the BCS and guaranteed an at-large birth, likely to the Orange Bowl. Even if they aren't in the top 4, an 11-1 LSU team is almost a lock for an at-large. If USC beats Auburn, USC goes to the Sugar and 11-2 Auburn is passed over for 11-1 LSU for a BCS birth, again likely to the Orange Bowl.

If Auburn wins out, 11-1 LSU would be a lock for the Sugar Bowl.

If Auburn beats Bama, and USC beats Auburn, 11-1 LSU gets the fricking shaft and heads back to Orlando.

Not so fast my friend. If USC wins, yes they go to Sugar ... I don't think that a 1 loss AU doesn't necessarily get a BCS bid over a 1 loss LSU. Early loss in the season is better than losing last game ... even if it's championship game.

Usually when two teams are tied, the first tie-breaker is head to head. It's an unusual situation this year because of the Cam Newton deal, but unless something comes out definite ruling Cam ineligible, I'd be pretty shocked if 1-loss LSU went to the BCS over 1-loss Auburn.

I appreciate all of the speculation, but all I am hoping for is for LSU to beat the runts and the pigs and at 11-1, let the chips fall where they may.

med I thought also that's when the "early loss" is better than losing late in the season?

I hope the players aren't reading all this bs and not focusing on the two games ahead which at this point are much more important than the what ifs you guys are talking about, they are not gimmeys. One game at a time.
