It doesn't. Some people have this "SEC pride" for some reason. Personally, i couldn't give a rats arse about the SEC. They'll cheer for Auburn to win a NC because its "good for the SEC" without realizing it could possibly hurt LSU.

You do realize that if Auburn beats Oregon in the BCSCG this year, LSU will have a chance to beat the defending national champs next year AND the team they beat for the championship...?

Lately LSU has had the chance to beat the defending national champs every year (and DID this year) exceoept for those years LSU won it. That's why SEC teams get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the polls.

If other SEC teams didn't win championships, LSU's schedule would look like TCU's and we'd all be sitting around worrying about if LSU would get enough credit to stave off a one-loss challenger for a spot in the BCSCG.
