Sorry if this has already been posted here, but i didn't see it anywhere. Looks like its down to LSU and A&M.

Mettenberger will get his chance and it could even be for one of Auburn's main rivals in the SEC West, LSU. "Les Miles called me about six weeks ago and we have been talking every week," Mettenberger said, who will have three years to play three at his next destination. "They were one of the first team on me and LSU is a great program. I like the coaches, the offense and it's LSU.
"Right now it's LSU or A&M. I have narrowed down to two. If someone else comes in I will consider it but right now it's those two schools," he said. "I am doing things differently now. Don't promise me the world. I just want the opportunity.

Pretty sure he could ask for the world and the fan base would try to provide it.

Wait a tick...
He'll have three years to play three? Awesome news.

I really hope we get this guy

I like what he has to say about not promising the world, all he wants is a chance to compete. I believe that is why LSU is the best place out of those 2. A&M isn't competitive, they will not be and haven't really been for a while. LSU is competitive every single year. We are a consistent QB away from being in the national championship I believe. With the talent that we have next year, and will have for the next 3 years, i really see no reason why he can't come in here and help us compete for a couple of national championships.

It's LSU shortly after Ole Miss visit.
A&M has Tannehill now and he will have to beat him out
Bama has McCarron, the guy from last year and Ely now and it's all on McCarron the next 3 years
LSU has Jefferson and Lee who could be beat out and at a minimum the position is yours for 2 years because a true fr will not be close to your experience and you will have a spring jump on him

I'm sure it has been discussed on here, but what are the odds we still get Mettenberger if Brissett commits? Doesn't he already have an offer?
If both Rivers and Brissett are coming to town, wouldn't that push Mett away?

No, Mett would be ahead of the game, pretty much just taking Chris Garretts spot

Bridgewater is more likely than Brissett. I wouldn't mind either, but neither would push Mett away.
He has College experience and the others would need to redshirt.

Yeah I guess he is already 2 years out of high school compared to Rivers and Brissett. If we get all 3, that would be impressive. Redshirt Rivers and Brissett and they will both be ready to start in 2014

Any relation to Steve "Mr. Mullet" Tanneyhill?

No indeed not. Both of those guys will receive a redshirt, while Mett will be physically ready when he steps on the field this Spring. All Mett has to do is learn the playbook and beat out JJ and JL which shouldn't be that hard for him to do given their stagnant production of the years.

Unfortunately, this is true.

Sounds good. Mett seems like he wants to make an immediate impact. Think Miles has to assure him that he will have an opportunity to play in 2011?
If Miles hasn't been willing to go away from JJ playing when he has atrocious passing stats this year, then can Mett expect him to tell 2 seniors that they aren't starting?

If Mett commits here and Miles don't give his a realistic shot at winning the starting job, the AD should not hesitate one bit when deciding to fire his arse.
Without even seeing him in a LSU uniform yet, Mett should be starting in 2011. That's just how bad our QB's have played for the past three years.

I agree.
But I'm still hoping that we have a new offense next year. Preferably pro-style... and Mett seems to like that idea.

Us recruiting Mett so hard signifies a move to a pro-style offense in the near future IMO

Crowton going to visit him makes me think otherwise
eta: I really hope we have a change in offense though

I mean all the coaches cant go to a meeting with a player and just be like,"No, Gary I think you should sit this one out. Maybe next time." They have to bring him along, but i bet Les is telling him he wont have to run this offense next year.
