for one minute, i took the time to compile some interesting data.

Saban had a great year in 2003...no denying that. He destroyed opponents to the tune of 29 points per game. LSU played 3 ranked opponents during the regular season.

Miles had a great year in 2007...he destroyed opponents by 25 points per game, while playing TWICE as many ranked regular season opponents.

In the two best regular season years of saban (2003 & 2004) he went 20-3....very impressive. He won by 23 points per game and lost by 14 points per game.

In the 2009 & 2010 seasons for Les Miles (not his best two, just these past two highly criticized seasons) miles is currently 16-4 and has a shot at equaling saban's BEST two years in terms of wins at 20-4. While the margin of victory is only 14 points of game, the margin of defeat is only 7 points per game. Also, this would be done while playing 9 ranked opponents compared to 7 for saban..which is not a big deal.

So, listen, I am not a huge miles supporter, but this is why i give the guy the benefit of the doubt. These two highly criticized years can equal saban's, not the best two of miles, but these highly criticized years. That being said, if he loses three games this year, fire his arse.

Your argument is a waste of time to anyone with an IQ above 90. I like Miles but he is not in Sabans game as a head coach.

That being said I bet Miles would be a lot more fun to go fishing with than Saban. No doubt Miles is probably a much better guy but not a better head coach.

That said, can I return to Saban's lap now?

I've seen this played out dozen's of times here and elsewhere. The threads are always much the same.

To me, bottom line...Miles good guy (at least compared to those in his profession as a whole) Saban A-hole.

But IMHO not really that close as to who the better coach is. Only an ever-shrinking percentage of LSU fans would still argue the point.

The records...if one can't understand they took over programs in totally different states of being then that's probably why one still thinks there's an argument.

Please, no more discussion of your afternoons at the day care. So far Lesticles is 0-2 head to head against Saban. Let's see what happens next week....

ETA OK, forgot Saban was coaching Bama on the Chad Jones play in 2007. 1-2 it is, but there's a lot on the line for Miles on 11/6/10.

here's the flaw in your argument: assuming this team will buck the trend of the last 2 years and avoid a november collapse. what makes you think that will happen? this team is just as fatally flawed as the last 2.

Saban was building a program, Miles got one of LSU's most talented teams. The circumstances of their coaching tenure aren't near the same.

2003>>>>>>>>>2007
2001>every other Les Miles team

Saban 2 SEC Championships>>>>Miles' 1

Two can play at this game-

2008 and 2009- LSU lost a combined 9 games in two seasons for the first time since the reubuilding 1999-2000 transition (DiNardo 8 losses, Saban 4)

Saban- 2 SEC titles in 5 years after inheriting a rebuilding job
Miles- 1 SEC title in 6 years after inheriting a team two years removed from a national title

For the first time since 1998-1999-2000, LSU will fail to win the Western Division for three straight years. If we fail to win it next year, we will have put a recruiting class through the program that never made it to Atlanta.

SEC much tougher now than it was then? Even though the same two teams (Alabama and Florida) won both Divisions in 2008-2009 and went a combined 31-1 in the regular season?

Miles' SEC record after 5 years at LSU was actually a game BEHIND Saban's, despite the fact that Miles had a significantly better starting point when he inherited the program.

Referring to everyone as "kids" doesn't give you any more credibility and it doesn't make your arguments look any less retarded.

If you can't discern the difference between Miles and Saban you have no credibility.
