Every LSU game is a "big game" as far I'm concerned...

The LSU Tigers are, and always will be, the love of my life as far as sports are concerned.

I realize it's become widely popular among those on the radio on the Rant to be critical of our coaching staff - particularly our head coach - and the state of our program. And I must admit, whether it's right or wrong to let it affect me, the negativity does affect me as a fan and certainly takes away some of my enjoyment of something that I really cherish: LSU football. So congratulations to you, negatigers - you have helped to dimimish the enjoyment of the game for one of the biggest LSU fans in existence. You've succeeded.

All that said, this LSU team and this LSU coaching staff is not perfect. For that matter, there is no perfect team or coaching staff in the country. We obviously had our struggles in 2008, and we obviously have continued to have struggles on the offensive side of the ball since then. Nonetheless, there are many positive things happening around this LSU football program:

--We are currently 7-1, with a great chance to contend for a BCS Bowl in 2010, a year most - including myself - projected us at 9-3 (at best) prior to the season.
--The groundwork has been laid for a legitimate shot at the national title in 2011 (of course depending upon how 2010 plays out, it appears we have a great chance to be PreSeason Top10 headed into 2011 with two senior QBs)
--recruiting is still year-in-year-out second to none. This cannot be understated. Anyone that follows college football regularly knows that recruiting is the crucial component to consistently winning games in college football.
--We're still one of the winningest programs in the toughest conference in the country, despite many predictions that had Miles "in over his head" in 2005 when he was hired. Here we are, nearly 6 years later, still sitting in prime position to compete for championships this year and into the future. Despite many predictions otherwise, the program has not collapsed and will not collape, that much is evident.
--Our program has reached a point to where Miles and the LSU name have become media darlings in terms of the amount of coverage and airtime we get. Go to Montana and ask a random person who Les Miles is. Also ask them who Gene Chizik is just for kicks.
--Our athletes stay out of trouble. While Florida and Georgia have trouble fielding a team because their guys have yet to be bailed out, under Miles we have had - with few exceptions - basically no off-the-field issues to speak of
--Miles has done it all with class and integrity. There were definitely moments where Miles could have thrown coordinators, players, and our own fans under the bus. He has not, and has handled every bit of adversity thrown his way with the utmost class and integrity. At the end of the day, our main priority is to win, but if we can do that with class - as Miles has done - then it just makes it that much more to be proud of.

It doesn't matter who LSU's coach is, I will always root for the guys wearing purple and gold. Always. Les Miles may or may not be our coach well into the future, but I do know that regardless of who is coaching at LSU in the future, Nick Saban AND Les Miles have laid the groundwork for the LSU football program to have great success. Much like when Miles took over at LSU, our next coach will also be taking over an incredibly great situation at LSU. Anyone could likely step in here and be successful, and while Saban built that, Miles hasn't missed a beat and has certainly maintained that and has arguably raised the bar a little since Saban's departure. Our own fans' expectations are evidence of such.

All I ask is for some of you to chill. Let's watch it all play out, and most importantly: enjoy the spectacle that is LSU football. We are truly in the golden years of LSU football. Never in our history have we been such a centerpiece in the college football landscape as we are now.

Enjoy it, Tiger fans. If you've got constructive criticism(s), as we all do, that's one thing. But to continually attack and ridicule our program and coaching staff is not only aggrivating to many of us, it's quite simply unproductive. If you want LSU to win, which I believe most of you do, you would understand this.

-veterans at QB/RB/OL
-RR becomes go-to WR
-odd-year schedule with Auburn, Florida, and Arky at home
-Bama breaking in new QB
-marquee season opener that, with a win, vaults us squarely into the national title discussion from the get-go
-BCSCG in Nola... we've played in the last 2 BCSCG in Nola.

among others, but that's the main stuff

If you don't think beating Alabama means more than any other game, you're foolish.

The thread title was more of a jab at the guys in the multiple other threads going out of their way in trying to diminish all of LSU wins since 2007.

Certainly, the Alabama game is more important that most of our other games. Nonetheless, we've put ourselves in position with our other 7 wins in 2010 to give the Alabama game the "meaning" that it deserves.

I just had to let my thoughts out.

It's one thing to complain about actual losses under Miles or even lackluster performance wins, but when people start discrediting our tough SEC road wins over the last couple of years under Miles, they've gone to a whole different level of ignorance.

Coach, I know it is a bye week, but you should be revamping the offense, firing Crowton or at least out on the recruiting trail instead of on this web site. This site is really for FANS, not coaches:

And, just as a point of order:

quote:

All that said, this LSU team and this LSU coaching staff is not perfect. For that matter, there is no perfect team or coaching staff in the country.

This is Louisiana. No one has asked, or axxed you to be perfect. But Jesus frick, there's a big difference between perfect and the chaos and confusion we see from your offense every week in critical times. And it's not the players. It's getting the plays in on time. That on you. Auburn was getting up to the lines and running plays like crazy -- every play is exciting for LSU because you barely get the snap off on every play.

quote:

The groundwork has been laid for a legitimate shot at the national title in 2011

Only if you do the respectable thing and resign.

quote:

Our program has reached a point to where Miles and the LSU name have become media darlings in terms of the amount of coverage and airtime we get. Go to Montana and ask a random person who Les Miles is.

Frankly coach, you're not just famous but infamous. The only reason most people would know you in Montana is because people think you're a fool. And even people in Montana can't believe some of the goofy things you do and say on the football field. Whether people know Chizik or not, he sure can coach and he sure can recruit QBs.

quote:

--Miles has done it all with class and integrity. There were definitely moments where Miles could have thrown coordinators, players, and our own fans under the bus.

Many people say that the reason JJ's play has suffered this year is from the injuries he suffered after you threw him under the bus for the Ole Miss game. Dont remember that whole "clocking" incident? With the video of you telling him to clock the ball?

The teams we beat on the road the years you speak of discredit themselves by losing 5-7 games. Why dont you just give up with this notion, if anyone is showing their ignorance its you claiming that a win over a 7 loss Auburn team is a great win. Its not being a negatiger to realize we havent been a great football team the last couple of years and that we've failed to beat any great football teams in the same time period, its just an accurate observation.

I'll take this one guys.....

Terrible game managing head coach
Even worse OC
Bad qb'ing
O line issues
Running game problems
No passing game stats to talk about
Seniors who still aren't quite sure where to line up after timeouts
SImply dominated by an offense when we knew EXACTLY what they run.
Underperform against lesser teams

ETC

Yes, we see now how getting top recruits only lays the groundwork for a title in 2011.

Not that it really matters currently what happenned in 2008 anyway, but LSU winning at Auburn, as well as the wins at Georgia, and at Florida were big wins. You obviously disagree. It's ok to be wrong every now and then, we all are at some point.

And FWIW, I wasn't the one that started one of the THREE threads regarding the topic at hand, you were. Don't get all upset when you get called out by others for starting a thread that has absolutely no point other than to discredit LSU's "big" wins or lack therof for the last 3 seasons.

One of your reason for us winning a bcsnc next year is because of our QBs, Just cause a player is suddenly a senior doesnt mean he is going to be good, and RR can be as good as he want but with no one to throw to him its not going to matter

Firstly, I never said LSU would win the BCSCG next year. I merely said LSU will be a legitimate national title contender in 2011. In the end, It takes a lot of luck to win a national title on top of being a great team. Hell, even though I don't think we'll win it this year, we've got a legit shot at being in the discussion at the end if we win our last 4 games, two of which we'll be favored in, three of which are at home. Obviously, we'll need a lot of help this year given the loss at Auburn.

Secondly, you may be right about the QBs (we shall see). But you certainly give yourself a much, much greater chance of winning it all with an upperclassman QB.
