My Observations from the game and I was at the game:

CP3: He is an amazing player that I love to watch play basketball so don't get me wrong with this next statement. Since signing with Lebron's Agents it seems he may have become a diva. He got knocked down to the floor and Smith was not looking at him and CP3 was waving for him to come pick him up off the ground like he was pissed off. When Smith came and picked him up he jumped his arse for not coming get him up sooner. You really shouldn't do something like that to one of your teammates.

Marco B: He seems to feel the place that Peja once did but he is better at getting to the goal and passing to teammates.

Ariza: Did what they traded for him to do with the expectation of making 3's. He played good defense, rebounded, hustled, and got to the hoop well. He just needs to shot the 3 better.

West: He did what he does. He makes the jumpers and works well with CP3. Then he does the West defense if someone gets a step he fouls. He needs to work on sliding his feet to keep his man infront of him and away from the goal.

Oakafor: He rebounded well and defended ok but no shot attempts for your starting center when your backup center has 10. That does make any sense.

Pops: He didn't do to much but foul.

Mbenga: I can see why the lakers didn't play him to much he just takes up space.

Peja: He's old but he can still shoot. They should play him some with CP3 so he can get some open looks.

Bayless: From game 1 I can't believe we traded a first round pick for this guy but I guess every team needs a guy to come off the bench at a time out and high five everyone and say your doing so great. Other than that he looked ok as a backup point not really any mistakes.

Thorton: I understand his foots hurt a little but the 2nd most dynamic player on your team is your 11th man I don't think so. When he came he played well and did some good things but the coach is hampering him by playing him at the 3. He is already a little undersized to play the 2 and he puts him at the 3 so Bayless and Green can get some time. Play him with CP3 and get him so open 3's.

Green: Thorton should be getting his minutes unless you need another defensive guy out there because his shot was off.

Smith: He look terrible early but got a little better as the game went on but he should not be taking 10 shots and most of them were jumpers. I have always hated to see a 7' center shooting deep jumpers your 7' foot get your butt on the block. I also don't want him playing much at the end of the game like he did last night.

I think the incident you're talking about with CP & Smith happened because Smith did not do what he was supposed to do on that play which resulted in that foul, and as you can recall last year CP got beat up almost every game and no one would ever defend or help him

And the back up center is not Smith, its Mbenga , he didn't put up shots either. Smith is the back up PF

FWIW, CP did that "help me up" thing more than once.

CP3 has been somewhat of a diva in his career on the court honestly...he actually complains a decent amount from what i remember

Yeah, he's the capt. would you rather it be like last year where he gets beat up on and no one even responds?? And watch the rest of the league, players run to other ones that hit the deck, why can't we have that on the hornets?

Just watch the first part of this vid:

I hate the diva BS that CP3 pulled this summer, but I don't have a problem with this.

I see it as a leadership/teambuilding thing

That's exactly what it is. When one of your players falls down, you should be running to get him up, every time. That's all he was doing. He's trying to get them to be a team.

As for Jason Smith taking jumpers...that's what he does. He's a jump shooting 7 footer.

Also, you don't really know what you're talking about regarding Bayless. He was with the team for 3 days. He's a good player.

this team showed flashes of how good they could be, espically when they lead most of the first. they'll continue to put minutes together and adapt to each others skills and will be able to hold on to leads better. especially when coach realizes that MT5 needs more minutes.

Not only this, but when it's your superstar/franchise player, and he's knocked on his arse, you run to pick him up, esp when he just lays there.

All teams do this.

^^^^^^
THIS

I would much rather Jason Smith take jumpers than Mbenga or Oak. That is his function as DWests backup....He was nervous for the first game , but I'll bet Smith starts knocking those down consistently,

Paul: Great game. About what you'd expect from him

Belinelli: Biggest surprise. I heard the good preseason reports, but I didn't think he'd fit in as well as he did.

Ariza: did what was expected of him. Great defense, got to the rim. Needs to hit the open 3's though. Game would've been totally different if he hit a couple of his open threes.

West: Great game for him. We'll rely on his 20 points per night.

Okafor: No offense, too small for defense. They kept saying he did a good job on the defensive end, but that's not what I saw. He's too small to guard someone like Bogut. Everytime he got the ball on the low block he easily turned and scored over Okafor.

Bayless: not too impressed with him. Long season though, and he's only been here a couple of weeks.

Thornton: I don't know why he doesn't get played more (no homerism). He is such a spark and offers quick offense.

Mbenga: Not sure he is an upgrade of Gray.

Yeah he's six ten so a bigger Center would shoot over him, and with him being in Foul trouble early wouldn't help that either.

I think I know basketball pretty well considering that is all I have done for most of my life besides school and I played with or against most of the LSU boys that are in the pros right now.

From actually playing ball for years you bitching at a team mate for not coming help you up as quick as you would like because your were not looking at him makes you not want to go help him up next time.

Yes, I do want players to help each other up and yes I hope paul stays healthy all year because he is the key to this team but Smith isn't one who looks like a bruiser that can really take up for CP3. West, Ariza, and Okafor are the ones that should take up for him and knock someone around if they were to do it to Paul.

As far as Bayless I can understand needing to find your groove with a team but he should already know the playbook he was in Portland with Monty.

It seems like you think you know ball but you weren't the star on the team and you probably had to always help the star out... it's alright. And I still don't think CP was initially "bitchin" about him not hurrying, I think it was from the play. but oh well

And you're still reaching on the Bayless aspect

I was the star on my team expect when I went and played with the D1 guys that went to LSU. I played point guard so I completely understand CP3's importance. He is the most important player on the floor because everything feeds off of him. All I was say is you can get on your teammates thats fine anyone who has ever been a leader has done it. Just try not to make them look bad in front of everyone. How would you feel if your boss bitched you out in front of everyone when he could have done it just between you to and still got the point across. Don't take this as me not liking Paul he is my favorite player in the league and I think he is a great guy.

If I fcked up than nah, I would be pissed at myself anyway... and you still missing it, if you re-watch that play you'll see CP got the foul and was telling him to hurry up because he just messed up that play

Monty wasn't the head coach in Portland. He's not running the exact same system as Nate. Looks a bit different to me. And Nate hated combo guards...Monty had 3 at one time with I believe Peja at PF at one time and West at C. Something like that. So...

And besides, its way more than a system. You're actually playing with players. These guys go to training camp and play in preseason for a reason, to get used to the guys next to you. Bayless has had none of that with this team. It will take some time, but the guy is a good player, and attacks the rim. He didn't do that last night yet.
