Do you really think Zach Mettenberger would start next year?

I would want him too, but I've wanted many things for this team that makes sense but never happens. I just don't see Les making JJ or J.Lee sit out their Senior year.

It really just depends on how much work he puts in this offseason. He could win the job, but it would take a lot of work.

With any other coach, yes he would start without question. With Miles, I doubt it.

I don't see Les trusting the offense to anyone but the best player with his arse on the line.

Well, as a gambler, and considering I've seen LSU win 2 national titles both with senior QBs and I've never seen another LSU national title...

I want to see Lee as the starting QB next season.

I'm excited about Mett, and he'll certainly compete for the starting job and will probably play a lot in 2011, but I want a senior QB. You get very few opportunities to field a senior QB.

How would you feel about our chances next year if Les announced today that JJ will start in 2011? There's your answer! Like DD said, we don't currently have a QB on campus!

I didn't think about Les' butt being on the line next year, but it seems more plausible now! I feel like he would win out between Jeff and Lee, but that hasn't stopped Les in the past in my opinion. My opinion is the key here because I don't have proof since I don't get to see practices..

Plausible is word of the day.

when we get a new oc this might change. he will have alot to say about what qb is on the field. we will have a chance to see if it was the coaching that sucked or the talent.

If Crowton gets canned and new OC with a new system comes in, there is a much better chance of him starting as everyone would be on a level field in the Spring.... and there would be an OC with at least half a brain.

J. Lee did have a down game this last, but we still haven't given him a fair start this year. Who knows he may be able to step up to the challenge.

I am a Georgia fan but have attended two LSU games this year and the answer to this question is YES if Miles has half of a brain (debatable nonetheless). Mett is much better than either Jefferson or Lee but this is nothing earth shattering to any of you. You have a horrible QB situation and this kid can sling it. The knock early on at UGA was his lack of accuracy but his arm is every bit as good as Stafford's is/was. Murray is the better overall prospect but Mett has the better arm. Simply having someone to stretch the field would help LSU tremendously.

First, let's get him here. Then the debate can begin.

Both our guys can throw a 60 yd pic with the best of them if the line can block long enough. Let's hope Mett can do better than what you are describing.

All things being equal you start the senior, otherwise you start the new guy

I see all these hypothetical posts about "when" Mettenberger gets here, but does anybody actually know the odds or latest story on "if" he comes to LSU? Haven't seen much on that lately.

I may have not made it clear but he is much better than your current options but had trouble with footwork and accuracy when he got to campus. He wasn't going to beat out Murray but that isn't a knock on him. Murray just came in much more ready to play. Mett will probably be the better pro prospect. He probably has improved a great deal while in JUCO.

I don't think Zach would come here after seeing the debacle this year, and Miles love for JJ.
