I didn't know that they piped in crowd noise. If true that is pretty chickenshite. Come to think of it, at one point it seemed surreally loud, maybe that's what I was hearing. There should be a rule about that.
There is no "crowd noise" pumped in. They do play the intro to Crazy Train and a few other things in between plays on big defensive play situations, but it has to be cut off when the team with the ball moves to the LoS - that is an SEC rule.

Any noise from the time the players break the huddle onward is strictly from the fans - yelling, clapping, banging on the bleachers, banging bottles or sear cushions together, etc.

Are you sure? This is against NCAA rules.

What is common (I know Florida and Bama do it) is putting a mic in front of the band and leaving it on during the game so that it amplifies the crowd noise.

LSU does not mic Tiger Band. If they did, the stadium would seem a lot louder due to the band's close proximity to the student section.

Just b/c it's ag. the rules doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I'm not talking about the music, I'm taking about crowd noise. Go in 2 years and see for yourself. I first noticed it 2 years ago.

It is legal as long as it is below a certain decibel level and is only done while teams are not at the line of scrimmage (timeouts, measurements, etc.) As my earlier post said, Auburn will sometimes throw out the opening part of Crazy Train or something over the PA when the defense needs a big stop, just to get the crowd amped up, but it is shut off as the team with the ball comes to the line.

They pipe in music and it was at the appropriate times (as in not rule breaking).

I'd say that at their loudest DV kills jordan-hare but jordan-hare was definitely louder during the whole game than DV has been this season.

I have to say though, being in AU's band must suck. They played like 4 songs once each the entire game.

This definitely didn't happen. I've been the last two times we've played in AU.

I'm not saying they don't do it. I was just giving an example of how some schools circumvent the rules by leaving the band mics on during the game in order to amplify crowd noise.

For what it's worth, I have been to a game at Auburn and I didn't notice any piped in noise.

Tiger Stadium will continue to fall short of its traditions until LSU has had a long enough string of losing seasons that the fans get over their attitude of entitlement to an SEC champion every year and a BCS champion every 3 years. Spoiled brats pretty much characterizes the bulk of LSU fans these days. Not saying I think what the coaching staff is doing is acceptable, but the fans are exhibiting vast quantities of suckitude the last couple of seasons.

AU fans hungry for success. LSU fans complacent with current staff and fear we will never "actually" be competing for any championships at the rate we are going.

Thats the difference in the stadium atmosphere at this point. In 03, TS was the worst place to play. LSU fans hungry, team was good, and everybody was focused on one goal. Now we are fighting about Miles, QBs, etc, etc, etc.

I think I would have to disagree with the team coming out flat...but they were deflated quickly. I was at the game and thought the team came out ready, got a 3 and out, and were driving...then the dropped ball by randle resulted in a pic. After that I feel like LSU had no wind in their sails for a while.

The team did not come out jumping around and acting pumped up as they usually do. I agree it got considerably worse after a pick on the VERY FIRST DRIVE. In their defense it's hard to be "up" after that. In fact, it probably began when JJ started the game AGAIN.

It was pretty damn humbling. As I said in a previous thread. Their coaches and fans wanted it more than us.

To end the 3rd quarter their ENTIRE team emptied the bench and rushed 10 yards off their sidelines and began jumping up and down demanding the fans to get up and loud. Our bench, our team, our coaches.... Not so much.

Fair enough. I should have said "a long enough string of mediocre, underachieving seasons where we finish behind Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, or all of the above."

Right now, Auburn is still in the honeymoon period with Gene Chizik. All that will be gone once Cam Newton graduates. When I was there in 2008, they sounded like the LSU fans sound now with Miles but with Tubberville.

I will vouche for this though, Auburn fans are generally good people and were nice as hell when we were there last time. Lots of folks would smile and say "Welcome to Auburn". They are a different breed than the Bama fans.

This is not the NFL. It is college football. A majority of college football is mental/emotional. You can give Saban props for understanding that. Our team is beginning to reflect their leader. As they should, being that they all signed to play under him at this point. When I look to the bench and one team is going ape shite with adrenaline and the other team has maybe a quarter of the team not holding up 4 fingers... Some of our players were struggling to huddle up. They looked defeated and tired. In a game that close that speaks volumes.
