That is the question. I think in the older days it used to be that a good defense wins championships. but i think the dynamics of the game and the faster pace with no huddles and spread option may be changing the game. It's like comparing last years saints with the 85 bears. Which one would win (i take the bears fwiw)

Just curious. I think it's easier to shut down a great offense, but thats just me.

If you remember, Da Bears had a hellacious D.

i remember very well. The ravens also prove that point. As do the 2003 and 2007 tigers and last years bama team. I think we could go all the way if miles will get off his high horse.

History says it's easier to shut down a good offense, but it's not always the case 100% of the time.

Has this dominating Defense even played a top 25 offense? Just curious...

Hit Newton hard a few times and the Auburn offense will be non existent.

Defense wins championships.

However, I feel like if our offense gives the ball away in their own territory it will cost us big. Our D seems to give up one big drive a game, and often has had to play in the redzone because of turnovers.

I think LSU can win even with a sputtering offense as long as they can domintate field position and TOP.

"dominate a good defense" does not compute, unless you play error free ball AND your offense and special teams suck arse.

I guess you can say SC's offense dominated Bama's D. How often do you see a good D get dominated though?

I think Cam Newton and the Auby offense is overrated and will get exposed this week.

I like seeing all the attention he is getting. Perfect timing.

No. Just as Auburn hasn't played a top 25 defense.

nope, but we did shut down a top 20 rushing team, which is where the bulk of your offense comes from. and a couple of teams where top 25 offenses when we played them, but we changed that stat for them
