You can't look at this problem in terms of wins and losses. Anybody making the argument for Lee Vs. the QB rotation isn't denying that we have 7 wins.
I think we can all agree that when JJ starts a drive, more times than not, it's a wasted drive. People wanting to see more of Lee are thinking proactively in that they wonder how many drives can we waste before it costs us a game. If it takes a loss for miles to change his philosophy, the fan base will never forgive him of that.
If Les was running a business that was making money, but not as much money as he could make by making one change, would it make sense for him to leave it like it is? Of course not. Any good business owner who saw an opportunity for greater success would jump all over it right away.
