i know next year is the last year that we play florida every year in the new system. who is our next ten year team? do we know?

We're still going to be playing Florida. There is no 10 year team.

after 2011, the way the schedules are done change. we had florida for 10 years and then they were changing that.

its called the 5-2-1 plan. you play the 5 teams in your division, 2 rotating opponents home and home, and then 1 permanent team for the ten years. that way everyone plays everyone in a ten year span in at least a home and home

Don't know where you got your information but there is a reason they call them a permenant opponent.

of course, since Georgia & South Carolina produce so many more blue chippers than Florida.

Nothing will change. The SEC changed its scheduling about 8 years ago, I don't think they're about to do anything to upset the flow of it now.

Actually there may be some truth to this, if you check the furture schedules on LSUsports.net, there is nothing for SEC opponents after 2012... maybe.... Nahhhh

As far as I and everyone else I know knows, fla is our PERMANENT opponent from the east.
The reason is that Alabama did not want to give up playing Tennessee EVERY year and AUB-UGA is another longstanding rivalry that neither school wanted to give up.
We got stuck with FLA, and I've never heard that it may change.

This is false. We are permanent opponents. It was discussed ad nauseum during all the re-alignment chaos.

That would be because SEC schedules aren't released till 1.5-2 years prior. In other words...
This year's schedule was not released till after our 2008 season.

Maybe they will revisit it because 2011 will mark the 10th season that it will be 5-2-1 after being 5-1-2 for many years.
But they will not change the permanent opponents because of the dipshits at Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and Georgia. They are the reason we even have a permanent opponent to begin with.

We have played Florida for 19 years straight.
