So we can discuss something different, does anyone think mathieu should start gettin some playin time over claiborn as a legit corner instead of just seeing him as a dime/nickel back?
Not saying claiborne is a bad corner, i just would like to see TM in a legit corner back role since he will be eventually. I love watchin him on the field, and we see him a lot since he is always around the ball. Thoughts??

Hell no. Dont want Tyrannosaurus at corner against UF. Maybe against Mcneese or ULM

I think he may be too short. He seemed to be oversized and it cost us on a couple of plays last week.

MC is listed at well over 6ft, Matthieu, well under. The dude is a star, don't get me wrong, but I am not sure if he can be an every down corner with that size.

Mo has seemed to play an amazing corner since UNC. I like the packages just as they are right now. Leaving Mo out there to shut down, and having PP and TM disguise blitzes.

I wouldn't mind seeing this at all. The main reason is that Mathieu is a play maker. Claiborne is a solid CB, not saying that he isn't, but it juts seems that when Mathieu is in the game he makes a solid play. I wouldn't want the switch to make him a full time starter, but since were not going to red shirt him might as well use him more. Love to see him get a few more series in at CB per game.

NO!!! Mo is our best PURE corner (Yes, better than Peterson who is a better athlete)

Putting Tyrann in as our number two corner will leave us exposed. He doesn't have the size as a freshman to cover SEC receivers, or tackle them for that matter (See Tenn.game).

Just think mo was only a three star. Someone seriously dropped the ball on that one

Not saying that mathieu should be our permanent starter, i just like seeing him on the feild and would like to see him in that role. Maybe not in the Florida game, but somewhere down the line.

Once PP is gone who is gonna take his spot???

Chief has TM out there to take advantage of his natural playmaking instincts while playing him as a true freshman. By next year he will more of a beast as a true corner with Claborne...for a true freshman to play the way he is, relax and enjoy him in the nickel this year...he's so good Jai can only get on the field as a back up safety!

does anyone here really believe claiborne is a better corner the peterson?? really?

PP is the number 1 rated corner in the country and a top 5 pick. I like mo and all but he is not a PP. PP shows up for big games.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it. PP shuts down half of the field, it sucks for the other cornerbacks since they have to deal with the ball coming their way more times than they would like.

Claiborne a better true corner than PP...seriously?? I suspect that's another classic rant question posed for a reaction...Claiborne is still learning how to play corner...Claiborne is out there because he is a better athlete than Jai

Do you honestly think that Mo is a better cover corner than PP, who is up for the Heisman as a D player, who will be a top 5 pick, who is the best corner we have ever had at LSU, who NFL scouts are drooling over, who has the size and frame of a LB but the speed of a RB/WR or faster? Man thats a bad call to say Mo is better cover guy.

If Matthieu is too small will his development with age really matter??

Playmaker, that he is, he has an intangible gift, dudes a gamer, but does this make up for his height to be an every down CB? I don't think so. I think his limited role suits our team and him very well.

If I remember right Steltz was not an every down DB until his Sr. Year? But, he like, Matthieu was a difference maker given his chance prior to that.

Is there a better Freshman Corner in the SEC? He will get bigger like most 18 year olds. He is better than Corey as a freshman and a close 2nd to PP as a freshman...sit back and enjoy another DB star in the making

he will not likely grow taller and is listed on the roster at 5ft. 9. He is probably giving up several inches to the average SEC receiver, not to mention wingspan.

is asanti(sp)samuel any bigger as an NFL DB...We've had #1 corners over the years with Mathieu's size or lack of...I can't see him as a nickel corner for 4 years...

Mo has been pretty solid since the NC game. They seem to be testing TM, and he has given up big plays, but he was never beat where you'd say "wow , he got beat". He's been right there, and almost batted that Hunter pass, just missed it with his hand, and both players dived and landed on the ground. I think we are a better D with PP and Claiborne at corner and TM at nickel/blitzer. He's by far, our best blitzing player(I don't think they ever see him coming--maybe a size thing )
