Russell Shepard is the most dynamic offensive player LSU has ever had. A recruit with his combination of his running ability, throwing, and receiving is the holy grail for any offensive coordinator to get his hands on. I find it AMAZING how we have not seen him throw ONE single pass his entire career thus far at LSU. Its painful to think about how Crowton is wasting the career of so many players with so much potential. I'm not even complaining about him not getting a shot at QB, its the fact that he has not even thrown a pass on any sort of trick play, although IMO It is a travesty that he has not been givin the opportunity play QB. Accorgding to ESPN recruiting, coming out of high school, RS was more polished and developed as a passer than Terell Pryor, he was also the #1 dual threat QB to come out. It just pains me to see so much 1st round NFL Draft potantial college prospects get screwed out of their NFL value because they are unable to effectively display their talents due too overpaid, incapable coaches.

I'm not sure I'd go THAT far.

Kevin Faulk disagrees with you.

RS is many things, and is a great talent for LSU. He is not, nor could he ever be an NFL quarterback. He doesn't have the arm. Sorry to be the person to break this news to you.

Jesus, don't you think if RS was going to be able to take over the position from JLee or JJ, he would have done so??? Remember? RS asked to be moved to the slot receiver.

That's what he gets for coming to LSU.

No. And as much as I like Russell Shepard, he would never play a down at quarterback in the NFL.

I agree, i wasnt saying that. I was refering to TT RR and RS as receivers having 1st round potential.

As far as RS at qb, it was more of a point of his potential success in college, givin his talent.

Faulk has been the most productive tiger ever, but RS is more dynamic in that he can play a multitude of positions.

From a talent perspective, RS has the potential to be the biggest offensive weapon we're ever had, and he pretty much is but he is just not being used correctly, or even givin the ball much for that matter....

Guy has already shown difficulty bringing in a catch. He's explosive, no doubt. But Faulk was a better runner and receiver.

As for throwing, well, we haven't seen Shepard throw yet.

Though that is high school footage, it is still puzzling why we haven't at least tried a pass or two with RS. He must have been horrible at team practice to not warrant at least a try at passing in a live game.

Shep does not have the potential to be a 1st round WR. TT most certainly won't be. I could see Randle being a 1st rounder though.

Why do you maintain hope? This is the same staff that is in love with the short side option. Should not surprise you that they do not have a clue on how to use him or the other offensive weapons.

I love how people say he doesn't have the arm. That's good stuff. His redshirt was the biggest waste. Who knows maybe if we would have redshirted him because we didn't play him enough to matter anyways; he would have not changed to WR and then be given a chance at QB. He saw how closed minded our coaches are and did what he could to get playing time.

Needs to cut down on the errors and drops. Then use his name in this light.

Why do you consider it "AMAZING"? Disappointing is a more fitting.
......and Kevin Faulk was much more of a weapon.

Dude, Faulk played qb, wr, rb, punt returner and kickoff return while at lsu. How many more positions should he have played?

Well....he doesn't.
I guarantee that he has the weakest arm out of JJ, JLee, RS. Probably weaker than the walkons too.

Seeing Youtube footage and deciding that he has a cannon and should be compared to Drew Brees b/c he's an inch taller...For Real????

RShep has the potential to be one of the most dynamic players to wear the Purple and Gold in a couple of decades, and I agree he is not being utilized correctly. The entire offense, sans Ridley, is being goat screwed into oblivion.

HE asked to move to slot recvr for a reason. And it wasn't because he was uncomfortable about beating out JJ and JLee for the starting QB position.
