I didn't have a problem with the play design. And it might not have been the prime place to call it, but the execution of the play deserves the most criticism.
Once Ridley was accounted for, Lee has to throw it away or to the outside shoulder. It was expected that Ridley would be more clear of his defender, and the pass would not require so much arch.
Lee deserves the most blame, IMO. Ridley should have also recognized the situation, and interfered if necessary. And for me to defend Crowton and/or Miles at this point, must be taken as a sign by everyone else to reconsider their thoughts on this particular play.
You have to realize the severe struggles we are having in the red zone. Nine yards may have been more than our offense could handle in four downs running the ball. We barely got 8 yards against Miss. St., and later in the game it took 2 plays to get 2 yards on the ground, BARELY.
