I have Ryobi...recip Saw..skill saw...drill..shop vac..all the 18 Volt system...I have had this set since 05. The only issue I have now is my old nicad batteries don't hold a charge like they use to. I keep going back and forth on buying the new lithuam batteries or just another set of Nicads.

Unless you are using them professionally go with the NICAD and make sure you drain the battery before recharging it as they can get "memory" and thus a shorter charge life.
Ryobi is fairly good but if you are going to use them alot go with Dewalt. Craftsman is ok but the frequently change their battery connections and getting replacement parts is difficult. If you buy them form a one of the big box stores the store will carry a 1 yr warrranty on them along with the original manf. warranty so dont opt for the additional protection plans.
Get one with a hammer drill in it if you plan on drilling into brick/concrete frequently.
