Convince A 4- 5 Star QB to Play at LSU

How do you do this? What is our offensive identity? How do we utilize our WR's? Do we open up and go downfield or play conservative regardless of the talent on the field? Bottom line, these kids can listen to the Rhetoric and Coach speak, but when they come to a game and witness the playcalling, does anyone see a great prospect comitting to LSU with Miles and Crowton in place?

Playing time and inform them that we will have a new OC next year.

Crowton will be gone after this year

try a wide receiver....one could argue that the wide out from texas recently decommited because we couldn't pass the ball and he saw that. I think he even commented about it. Forgot his name.

It's easy, show them the play calling in 07. This is how we will call the games with a good QB like you leading our team. We know you're up to the challenge of learing this playbook. We know you can see an average size qb like Flynn doing well in the NFL, just think what opportunities will open up for you.

Until we get a new coaching staff our QB recuting will suck. Steve Rivers is not the answer! No one in the Sec offered , And he is not near as good as his brother is at this point of his high school career.

"How would you like to play for Mike Leach if we made him be nice to you?"

How many championships does Leach have? Dont give me the talent bs because he has had that offense forever so then it must mean that he can't recruit with the big boys.

Damn some of you people are thinking too logical and mature. That is a problem. Seriously.
If you are 17-18, in MOST cases, you see things in a much different light. Lets say you're on your official visit at LSU. You are going to spend the weekend with some players that will show you a good time. You will be brought around on Saturday by the recruiting coordinators and shown all the things they want you to see. You will walk down on the field before the game and see the mammoth stadium and the people filing in. You cannot, at least last time I was in that situation, stay on the field when the players run out because it is some kind of NCAA violation, so you walk back up to your seat to enjoy the game. Do you hear the boos? Of course. Does it bother you? Highly, highly unlikely. MOST top recruits, especially at QB, are overconfident and cocky, so they hear the boos and it reinforces what the coaches have been telling them..."Son, you will be the guy at LSU from the moment you step on campus. The fans want something new and you are going to give it to them." Then, you leave the game and, depending on the result of the game, your night will be either a B+ or an A+
If your a top flight QB, you want to play and you want to play soon. As far as "systems" go, you only care if it is an option offense or if they throw it. If they throw it, you want to be there. If they have won NCs, you want to be there. If they play in the SEC, you want to be there. If they have sent a QB #1 Overall in the last 5 years, you want to be there.
I will give you a good example: Jim Tressel, widely regarded as one of the most conservative coaches in the NCAA, was able to recruit the top Dual-Threat QB of the last 5 years to a school that is NOTORIOUS for running the ball and winning with defense and special teams. If Pryor would go to tOSU, then, there is no apparent reason why a top-flight QB would not want to come to LSU given the opportunity.

I dont remember JJ being more than a 3 coming out of hs. I remember everyone saying he was ok, i think he had gotten hurt also. So we didnt know much about him. But he was not highly touted. I think most expected him to be a backup, and be serviceable at best if he was pressed into duty for a few games. Then all of the sudden, the guy that was only supposed to be the backup became the starter.

Tell him MIles will be fired.
It's not like QBs at this level just want playing time on a team that's going to run the option and that has shown absolutely no ability to develop talent.
Actually, I wouldn't trust the decision-making ability of QB that would choose LSU with Miles as coach.
Let's say another Russell Shep came along. He would have to be out of his mind to come here. Coo coo.
I'm going to give RS a pass on this, since his decision came before the 2009 Ole Miss game.
I know! It's like who could even be a fan of this team right? You should follow your logic and go root for someone else!
