Depends on your body, current diet, training structure, etc. On a low carb diet, protein becomes secondary source of energy and used to repair muscle breakdown.
Hell, some body builders are taking in 300/day

Well, considering the minimum recommended amount for adult males is about 50g, I think you have the wrong idea

There's a myth that you can't digest 40g protein in one sitting. AFAIK it's just a myth. Most of my meals have at least 40g protein.
