One of my buddies has an idea where to use him on offense. Wildcat QB with Shepard back there with him and use it only in the red zone. I didnt think it was such a bad idea. Not saying we should do it beacuse of his "chronic" cramping, but i like the idea of where to put him, and its only limited use. Could be deadly. And im not saying we do this all the time in the red zone, just a few plays to get him involved a little on the offense side. Other schools run this and it seems to work. You put the most dynamic athlete you have and then let him roll. Look at Denard Robinson at Michigan. It would work

Thoughts?

would rather him be good on defense... you start running him during the red zone and its adding a few more plays right before he goes back on for kick return and defense...

We have other very capable options for the wild cat. We just won't run it.

no he can barely do st and defense right now. He cramps up way to much and we cannot afford to lose him on defense because he gets hurt playing offense. We have enough athlete type players on offense anyways its just qb is the problem

Only if the NCAA allows players to run around with IV bags.

People said the exact same thing about him playing special teams before the season. You have one of, if not the best, players in the country and our offense is absolutely horrendous. Peterson is a gamebreaker on defense and special teams and would be the same on offense.

Yep. People were bitching about the possibility of him playing special teams. I would argue his offensive skills would be as much of a benefit to the offense and special teams as it is the defense.

Thats what im saying. He has touched the ball only a handful of times a game, and scores about 1 TD a game. Imagine what would happen if he gets the ball 5+ a game? Only good things

capable, yes. but PP has proven to be the most talented guy on our team with the ball in his hand

Returning a punt is much more taxing then running a play or two on offense especially in the redzone. As the weather improves his cramping problems will get better and i dont see why we dont try him back there. Motion shepard across, fake handoff to shep, false step and throw to randle deep. Itd only have to work once and could open up other plays in the future.

Pipe dreams....

It depends. He wouldn't have as much field to work with in these situations. I do feel though that as using him as a decoy it will free up another match-up with a lesser db. Most like the defense would key on him pretty hard due to his capabilities leaving the match-up between the lesser db and a rs or tt to be wide open. And that would also be if the QB didn't screw the pass and the receiver didn't botch the catch.

Second note. Peterson left twice during WVU for fluids. So unless his arse is getting fed Bigmacs on the sideline to keep his fat content up he would cramp too much. Plus you risk too much of a possibility of him getting hurt going for a jump ball or getting landed on wrong in the dog pile.

One of those was a bathroom break

But, again, im not saying it running this 20+ a game. Just a few to get him involved.

Too much of a chance of injury. Will never happen. Plus he wouldn't have near as much field to work with as he does on kicks, so you can't expect the same results.

That's probably because they overdosed his arse then

Yea it would be nice just risky. Would definitely help his Heisman chances if it worked.

The dude is 6'2 220. He doesnt need that much field beacuse he is a load to tackle. Im not expecting him to break it to the house everytime he touches the ball, or saying he gets the ball everytime if he was out there.

He would def have it in the bag if he could put up a few TDs on offense. Also, and i will get hated on for this, but we could give him a few breaks on D if needed. Mathieu is a freaking stud out there and could fill in if needed. Not saying that i want him off the field on D, but if needed, he could get a break

3 plays a game. 5 at the max.

i dont think the injury risk is that great.
