Pac-10 Championship game in Vegas?

It appears that the Pac-10 is considering Vegas as a potential site for their championship game. How awesome would it be to have a conference championship game in a city as dedicated to tourism as Vegas?
What other cities do you think would be good choices for the Pac-10 CG?

Other possible locations mentioned in the article include San Diego, Oakland
, and San Fransisco.

Where would they play the game?
Sam Boyd stadium holds 36,800, don't think that would cut it but it is a cool idea to have a championship game there if they can get the facilities.

That was one of the concerns brought up in the article.
Currently their aren't any stadiums there that have a high enough capacity.
The other roadblock to having a major sporting even in Vegas is having the belief by the general public that the contest could be fixed somehow by the Vegas bookies.

That is kind of ridiculous if people think this. Are bookies only limited to Vegas? Could they not fly to San fran or Seatle to pay someone off to throw the game?

I agree. You'd probably still hear BS about how the game is fixed to allow Vegas bookies the chance to make serious money. People love a conspiracy theory.

the only good stadiums on the west coast are seattle and glendale...
or maybe invesco field in denver, but that would depend on the 11th best team in the conference (if they were there now currently) being good enough to get there

The WAC used to have it's CCG there in the 90s.

Vegas shouldn't even be considered, regardless of the bookie conspiracy theories. Hell, why not Glendale?? brand new stadium, indoors like the Big 12 and SEC CGs. Denver would be too cold in December.

I think part of it is that the players will get into trouble in Vegas and get put in a bad situation. Honeymoon in Vegas style, except with the Pac-10 Championship game instead of Sarah Jessica Parker.

Do players in the Las Vegas Bowl get into bad situations every year?

When does the Pac-10 championship start? Because the Niners (as yet unbuilt) stadium in Santa Clara looks fricking sweet and I think it has a maximum capacity of 78,000.
