Visors/Face Shields

throughout my years going to the games ive notice LSU players never have those nike visors over their facemasks. thats all i see from where i sit at tiger stadium is the flashing light reflected off the opposing players visors. the only player i remember wearin one was chevis jackson the 2007 season and thats only because something had happened with his eye midway thru the season. is there any unwritten rule LSU has about these things? they are very common everywhere else..

NCAA rule that you can't have a tinted visor unless you provide medical reasoning. As far as why no LSU players wear a clear one, that might be a team thing, dunno.

Good question, I remember a thread a year or so ago and some people were saying that Miles doesn't allow them, idk though.

Must be the training staff. I don't think any guys wore them in the saban era either.

in Louisiana humidity those damn things fog up real bad. I played high school ball and it would get fogged up all the time. Big distraction! and a pain in the but to set up! i am glad they dont!!!
also it is a team rule!

I wore a blue one for practices, it never fogged up. I wasn't able to wear it for games but I was thinking the same thing as you about the humidity.

I think its an NCAA wide thing. I'm not sure if I just made this up or if I've heard it somewhere, but its due to the fact that if a player was to sustain a head/neck injury on the field, trainers can see the players eyes and not have to take off the helmet so not to worsen a potential injury.

I think the tinted visor rule is SEC only, but it could be NCAA. In '05 or '06 Chevis Jackson had to wear one when he got poked in the eye and an apposing team complained that he couldn't wear a tinted visor so he switched to a clear one.
Screwed up his play for a good chunk of the season.
