You got that right. Optics are more important than rifle IMO. Most factory deer rifles are capable of pretty much the same accuracy and the average shooter won't even see any difference. The scope is where it is at giving you better light gathering, target acquisition and eye relief.

i have a Burris 4X14.5x40 and it is a great scope awsome low light gathering. I shot a pig from 175 at dark last year with no problem. put the scope down and couldnt see him laying dead in the food plot.
