The Palm in Caesars for their business lunch special was my favorite meal while there. I also enjoyed Bejing Noodle #9

Upscale? Mid range? Where are you staying, etc. Give some background info of a little bit of what you are looking for/where you will be on the strip.

If wanting local fare, or local hotel fare, try..
-Andre's(French Continental..order the Dover Sole)
-Rosemary's(The Jordans, married CIA trained chefs that learned under Emeril and Susan Spicer..Classic American with southern flavor..LV's best local joint for many years now).
-Piero's old school Italian(full of local heavyweights, stars, and mobsters too).
-Cathay House(local Chinese restaurant & where locals have ate Chinese for decades).
-Ping Pang Pong in the Gold Coast(solid dim sum and stir fry and very cheap..one of LV's best rated..you'll be amongst the only Laowai/Waiguoren..IE..'gringos' in there!)..also Orchid Gardens not far off strip has 24 hr per day dim sum..solid.
-Lotus Of Siam(really great Thai, has a solid lunch buffet, and a northern menu at night..but in a seedy dump strip mall..NYTimes and other national mags have raved over Saipin Chutima's cooking and collecting of fresh ingredients from LA's markets for ages now).
-Capriotti's Subs(go to the original on W Sahara).
-Lindo Michoacan(like Capriotti's, won over the locals and has multiple locations..huge Mexican menu..great sauces and lunch specials).
In recent years, Dona Maria's has went down a tad, and some places that I haven't been to of late, have been reported as went downhill, like The Tillerman, Hugo's Cellar, etc..
-Bellagio dinner buffet(better meats) > Wynn's dinner(better desserts). Wynn's lunch buffet > Bellagio
-Paris french buffet is very good(crepes,etc..). Planet Hollywood Spice Market Buffet is the best price bargain and breakfast buffet for the dollar. The Mirage a solid buffet. Bally's has a great Sunday champagne brunch buffet.
-In-N-Out Burger(slightly overrated as is Fatburger and Burger Bar), but it's still fun to watch the busiest In-N-Out location shovel orders out.
-Archi's Thai..worth the ride to Henderson.
-Paymon's Med Cafe..very good Syrian/Lebanese fare.
-Then there is the obvious, yet ab$olutely out$tanding celebrity chef joints inside the best hotels, like Boulud, Puck, Palmer, English, Robuchon, Collichio, Vongerichten, Mina, etc..
-Also, Vegas has the best steakhouse chains & assorted chain stops in the country around town. Cut, Mortons, Ruth-Chris, Palms, Lawry's Prime Rib, Joe's Stone Crab, Z-Tejas Tex-Mex, etc..

BTW if you really wanted to hit buffets the Harrahs deal is pretty solid. All harrahs hotels buffets for 24 hours is like 49 dollars.
So you can eat at 6 diff places in 24 hours for 50 bucks. If you do it right thats 4 meals. Get it at say 1pm you get lunch, dinner, the next day breakfast and lunch before 1pm.

paris had some good food.
just got back. the most phenomenal duck i've ever tasted. overpriced everything, but that's vegas. my wife had a $29 glass of "house" wine. yes, glass.
italian place near the Hilton (starts w/ a P) was also good, but so damned pricey.

Wolfgang pucks place in the MGM has the best burger ive ever had in my life.
Little Italian place in the mall area of the venetian is very good, and typically had very cheap drinks during the day. (cant remember the name, has a bar area and small seating downstairs and main restaurant upstairs)
Emerils sports bar place has very good bar food if your looking to watch a game.
Sushi place in MGM (cant remember the name)

The very small place after the food court? I wanted to try it but it was packed everytime I passed by.
BTW STAY AWAY from the food court. 2 Nathans hotdogs with fries and a drink ran us something like 14 dollars each.
The Business lunch at The Palm included 2 USDA Prime beef tenderloins about 6 oz each with a mushroom sauce. Huge salad, Basket of Bread, a huge sideorder of onion strings and veggies and a HUGE slice of cheesecake and because it was our first visit they gave up each a drink on the house.
All this was only 23 each.

Piero's(on Paradise Rd). Old school, and still solid. But, many of the new ones like Bartolotta, etc..have passed it by.
P.S. Catman, get over the Hasselhoff pic, it was honest work, before Knight Rider and Baywatch came along. And speaking of late 1970s grooming, did anyone see the most recent Cosmo at check-out line?
