This was posted on the SEC rant and I thought some of you may enjoy it. I know we have fun talking about football and talking smack to each other and about our players and coaches.
I think this puts things in perspective or it did for me anyway. A NC is one thing but this kid getting an education and an opportunity at life is much more important than any crystall football.
It makes me more proud of the University of Alabama as well as all of the other great Universities throughout our conference to know what they are providing these kids and it is a hell of a lot more than a chance to play football.
He seems like a beast on Saturday but he looks like a little boy in this interview. Who knows what kind of pressures he feels or Jordan Jefferson or Shep or any of the other hundreds of kids I could name that play in the SEC. I think we would all be better off as fans to appreciate that they actuall are giving us everything they have even if they fall short sometimes.
In the end, this is just a game to us, but to them it is their hopes, their dreams, and a possible opportunity to escape a life that most of us will never know.
God bless all these kids from all of our schools and whatever happens on the field, well I guess that was just the way it was meant to be.
Enjoy!

Thank you!
I thought this was a good story and I was trying to relate it to all fans. I have no idea why they would anchor this thread with the crap that is on here to read.

Seems like a sweet kid. He's lucky to have a brother like that to help him through this period without parents. He is a beast on the field and seemingly a good soul off of it. Damn you Scoop!

South Carolina is going to dominate the SEC East this year...We may even see them in the Sugar Bowl...I'm just saying...

Nice post, Scoop. Thanks for sharing. We all get so wrapped up in the teams we often forget about the players being actual people.
Thanks for handing out some gravity to ground us to what is important.
