Zach Mettenberger offered scholarship?

ESPN's CFB Rumor page is reporting that Les offered the former UGA QB a scholarship. He was kicked off the team in the spring for basically groping a girl in a bar not long after the Roethlisberger incident happened in GA as well. If this is true, and obviously since it is on the Rumor page it may not be, this would be huge. He is an excellent QB with great size.

He was pushing Murray really hard at UGA. I think this would be a pretty good pickup.
eta: He would be better than some scrub walkon if LSU got in bad shape at the QB postion.

I watched the UGA spring game in person and Mettenberger absolutely was way better than Murray. That being said I want this to be a last ditch option at QB, he could be potential trouble which is exactly what we need at the QB position...

Dismissed Georgia QB Zach Mettenberger, now at Butler CC, tells former Bulldogs S Kelin Johnson that he received a verbal offer from coach Les Miles on Wednesday. Miles had previously indicated that he might look to the juco ranks after freshman Zach Lee signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a former SEC signal caller certainly is a good place to start.
The Tigers are also known to have an offer out to three-star QB Jacoby Brissett of Florida, and ESPN Recruiting's Bill Kurelic reported last week that LSU finally offered three-star QB Cardale Jones of Ohio.
Miles supposedly made it a point to tell Mettenberger that he needed a QB for the 2011 season ... which is rather odd given that his top two signal callers are juniors. (Maybe he was just referring to depth.) As readers of CFB Rumor Central undoubtedly know, juniors Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee are the only scholarship QBs on the roster, with three-star Stephen Rivers committed for 2011. Mettenberger, who would have three years to use his three years of eligibiliy, certainly would be a good option for LSU as a junior in 2012, when Jefferson and Lee are gone.
As a bonus, Metternberger would get a chance to stick it to Mark Richt & Co.

I would have to guess that Jarrett Lee will transfer without meaningful time this year for his sr year to a 1-AA school so LSU will need a backup at a minimum

He pushed Jefferson this fall.. won back a fairly large portion of the fans. I don't see him transferring.. what good will it do him?
