Live bait question - Manhac area

I plan on trying the canal and areas near/under I-59 and Hwy 51 and was wondering where I could get some live bait. I figure I should be able to have a shot at some bream, bass and maybe some cats, too, and I was thinking I would have one rod rigged up for live bait and one with a spinner or plastic worm if I see or want to hunt for some bass. I will be heading up there from NOLA so a bait shop coming from that direction would be great.
Many thanks and if anyone has any tips on how to catch 'em in this area, please don't hold back.

Well, I just might fish some salt water depending on the weather/wind.
If I decide to stay with freshwater, I think I can get some worms at the Wal Marks, but I would prefer red wigglers over night crawlers and I also like crickets when I can get them.

Do you have a cast net? I see guys on the coast here all the time throwing them netting mullet, pogies, shrimp, you name it. I have one myself but never use it.

I don't have one but probably should get one, although I am admittedly not the best at tossing one. I get the dreaded "taco" about every other throw. anyway, I am not sure how helpful a cast nest would be given the nature of the place I am going and the type of fishing I will be doing this time.

Reno's close to Middendorf's on old road or Fuel Dock accross the tracks(also accessable via water on east side of bridge)
