James Britt was one of my early favorite Tigers (when I was old enough to follow, understand, etc.)
ETA: at the Soul Patrol...I remember my dad and uncles talking about this but was still too young to understand the humor.

To fill in couple of names/details on the '82 unit:
#51 Al Richardson was the other ILB alongside Lawrence Williams. Great duo. Shawn Burks was their backup as a Fr.
Dubroc didn't start in '82. OLB's were Joiner and Melancon
Bill Elko (transfer from Ariz St) was the other DT.
We played a 3-4 then and Marshall, Dardar, and Elko were one of the all time great DL's.

If I had to pick, the 1979 secondary was the best LSU had until the 2003 team.
James Britt is one of the most underrated players in LSU history.
Remember he is the one no one wanted to throw against in 1982.
1979 secondary:
SS Marcus Quinn
FS Willie Teal
CB Chris Williams
CB James Britt
My second pick would be the 1982 secondary.
RB (Rover Back) Jeffery Dale
FS Liffort Hobley
CB Eugene Daniels
CB James Britt (5th year Sr.)
Both of these secondaries also had depth. Cager went down on the first play of the 1982 season and was replaced by Dale. Also Alvin Thomas is the number 3 CB on the 1982 team.

I was a little confused about this. I saw that Teal played CB in the NFL, and that Williams still holds a record at LSU for INTs, so I thought Williams had to have played safety. Did they interchange any, or did Teal play safety during his entire career at LSU?

my fav by far...
the 2007 (Jackson/Zenon) crew was above average, but not nearly on the same level as the other 3 combos

Willie Teal played:
1976 CB replaced Burrell when he got hurt.
1977 CB
1978 I have to check his position for 1978, got the mdeia guide under a ton of paperwork somewhere in the room.
1979 SS/FS
5-11 175
Chris Williams played:
1977 CB
1978 CB
1979 CB
moved to FS in the spring of 1980
1980 FS
6-0 197

Remember it is Chris Williams that is the CB covering Kevin Williams the All Amaerican of USC in 1979 and had the one handed int.
Chris had 8 ints in one year at CB (that was 1978).
1977 CB where Williams and Teal, 3 ints, 9 pbu and 3 ints, 1 pbu.

Daniel-Britt were excellent. That D against NE in the Orange bowl was great outside a couple of horrible calls, we win that game against arguably one of the best football teams in the country with that wishbone offense. Dardar was phenominal. The center, Dave Rimington (didn't he die from brain cancer or was caughton steriods??) from NE was the outland award winner and Dardar dominated his arse.
