Approximate time of report: Friday August 20, around 8:04 pm...
METAIRIE, La. (AP)—New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says second-year fullback Marcus Mailei was waived with an unspecified injury and free agent fullback Jason McKie was signed.
The Saints signed Mailei from Philadelphia’s practice squad in December. He played in two games before a hamstring injury put him on injured reserve; he caught two passes for 7 yards in the Saints’ preseason opener last week.
McKie, a veteran of eight NFL seasons, signed with the Saints in May and participated in their offseason program, but was released just before training camp began in July.
He spent seven seasons in Chicago, starting in 47 games and playing in another 41. He had 29 carries for 84 yards and three touchdowns, and 68 receptions for 364 yards and three scores.
