Personally I am.

Hes got the genes for sure, and his large stature is a plus. I can really see him panning out into a legit QB. I'm also not a scout. Just trying to get others' perspectives.

What you think

If he develops...

If LSU has to throw him in as a RS Freshman, we're likely in major trouble. Throwing him to the wolves will probably damage him mentally too...

Cautiously.

I don't expect him to be his brother, but I think he will be good and have been a good player for us by the time he leaves.

However, I also think the majority of rantards will hate him no matter what he does.

If he can put some weight on that frame, I think he will be very good. From his highlights, he always seems to have his eyes down the field and doesn't let the rush bother him. Seems to have those intangibles that make for a special QB. I'm excited about having him as a Tiger.

He's not considered a top 12 player in Al and neither Bama or Auburn was interested in him. No reason to be optimistic about him. As for developing him, have you seen LM or GC develop a QB while at LSU?

My opinion is this....

EVERYONE knows your brother, and how your brother was overlooked in high school and developed into a stud, YET you're a 3* without offers from the schools in your state.

The kid has plenty of exposure, and that exposure has netted him the labe of a "project."

Projects require development, and LSU is not the place to be lately for a QB requiring development. Our system/coaches/fans are not friendly to young QBs that are trying to learn.

He's a less talented Tony Pike in the SEC.

Kid will be broken in half.

I was thinking he'd be a decent player in like 2014 maybe. We are completely frickED for 2012 short of getting a top recruit who can step in and play right away. Miles completely fricked LSU royally. Hopefully he's donezo after this year.

This

This fricking rant joint is the pits. Every player on LSU's roster sucks, and every player on Saban's roster is an all-american.

very.

1) you can't teach size.
2) you can't teach pocket presence.
3) you can't teach teachability.

in two yrs he will be 6'6" 230ish.
in three yrs he will be 6'6-7"250ish.
his hs coach says that, at comparable stages, he is way ahead of his brother on the developmental curve.

what's not to like?
mechanics....tweakable.

Colt McCoy (73rd rated prospect in Tx), Chase Daniel (49th rated prospect in Tx), Matt Grothe (93rd rated prospect in Fl), Matt Ryan (12th ranked prospect from Pennsylvania), Joe Flacco (Not even in NJ rankings), Todd Boeckman (13 ranked prospect in OH), Ben Mauk (36th ranked QB out of OH), Matt Flynn (ranked 40th in Tx) and Greg McElroy (43rd ranked prospect in Tx) all stopped by to say "Hi".

All three star QB's

Somewhat related, Jacob Hester and Buster Davis must have said good things about Miles. You know Rivers called his brother and asked for some due diligence before he committed.

Any QB with ability can excel in the right offense. Star ratings at QB are so hit and miss IMO, because success is so dependent on the type of offense a QB will be in during college.

dead on... what many don't realize is that he just recently commited to football full time, so his physical gains will be pretty substantial

I'll probably get beaten for this but, I think JJ will do just fine for us until Rivers can learn the system and become ready to take the reigns. All the videos I've seen on the kid are impressive to say the least and most QB's that really do well are 3* or 4*

I'm optimistic about Rivers's potential as a football player; I'm not optimitic about his prospects in Crowton's offense.

True dat! I have learned to like Miles a bit and personally i think GC is our biggest downfall at this point. Gotta love Gonzales though, i think he helps out alot with the WR's and QB's

I hear ya...seems to me he will, just by hanging out with his bro, be getting all the help he needs.
