My opinion on y'alls scrimmage!

I have read most of y'alls posts and like always I disagree with the negatiger attitude that most of you display.
I think they worked on the running game yesterday as indicated by the fact that they only threw ~22 passes. As all of you know, defenses win championships and y'all may have a great defense because you certianly have the best defensive corner in the nation.
Miles and this staff know that a championship can be won by a defense (frick a bunch of Ryan Mallett)but there is one key to winning a championship with a great defense and that is having a ball control offense.
You have to have an offense that can run downhill and keep the defense rested on the bench. LSU's defense played great against Alabama last year and only about 3 or 4 plays cost LSU that game (and maybe one or two bad calls, I'll admit). Our offense simply wore LSU's defense out because they stayed on the field all night long. We didn't do anything great on offense but we grinded away at the defense and in the end we won the game.
If LSU can control the ball on offense I think y'all have a chance to let that defense win the NC. Greg McElroy is no Dan Marino but he has a NC. Just my opinion.

It requires good game management by the QBs and coaches to win games in that fasion.
You think we have that?

Yes I do. I think Miles is a good coach. He has made some mistakes but who hasn't, we fricking lost to ULM in Sabans first year, WTF was that.
Go to the SEC digital network and watch the LSU/BAMA game from last year, if you think MIles was outcoached you are wrong. I don't think either team scored the entire first half but I don't remember. That game was to the wire and both teams were exhausted when the game was over.
PP came out for 1 play due to cramps and Julio Jones scored and that was the difference in the game. 1 play, and people think the LSU staff can't coach? Most of the people that criticize this coaching staff don't know shite about football they just want to win and have no idea what it takes to win.

Please don't take this out of context, and I am not being negaitve, I want to ask this question. Les said that we looked good against the pass; with the qb situtation he have at hand, wouldn't any defence look good? I know we have a great secondary, I just wonder if we are getting tested enough in practice.

Nope, I am a Gump for life but I honestly enjoy LSU football. It is good to have another team that you really enjoy watching and following because it allows you to have two games to look forward to on Saturday.

Damn Scoop, you are now officially my favorite Gump.
Objective Gumps like you are truly rare and I do enjoy your views on the Rant.
Most of the time they are more accurate than our own posters.

Good post. I agree with that. The same can be said for the florida game - without Tebow being engaged I admit, but we still played solid D.
As for the Bama game, was this play one of the 2 horrible calls?
There was at a minimum 2 blocks in the back and a hold to spring that play. That play changed the complexion of the game and the fact that JJ and Charles Scott got hurt. As I recall we were just starting to dominate on Offense when Scott got hurt. He was well on his way to 100+ yds as I recall.

Good post scoop, always enjoy reading your assessments on LSU football. You have are still trying to preach logic with some of these morons that will still argue that Miles won a national championship out of shear "luck" and little to no coaching was involved. He is also pretty "lucky" to continue good recruiting. I think a lot of people here still just have Saban envy.

I think there is a vaccine for that now. Want to try it and come out from the dark side?
