...the entire year.

quote:

“I know everybody just wants this whole deal just to be over with so we don’t have to worry about it anymore, so we don’t have to wonder anymore about all this stuff,” quarterback T.J. Yates said Thursday at the team’s preseason media day. “It’s kind of annoying when new stuff keeps coming out on the news and we don’t even know about it,” he said. “We go into the lunchroom and there’s another thing up there on ESPN. It’s like, ‘Geez, come on, let’s get it over with,’ you know? “We’re all ready to move on.”

Distraction is bad in any form. The kids spend their free time talking about it, worrying about it, etc instead of talking through the playbook, thinking through scenarios their position will face, etc.

It will affect them significantly until it's over and then they may have to deal with some animosity beyond that.

will it affect the W/Ls ? who knows.

Since Austin hasn't been practicing, it definitely allows his backup to get the reps needed to be ready for the LSU game. All this stuff going on with UNC only puts more pressure on LSU to win.

That is definitely how we hope the team takes it.....some close to the team have said that the rumor-mongoring from Joe-blogosphere that has been reported by some local media has seriously pissed the team off, but they'll have to prove it on the field.

It should be interesting to see how it translates to the field since it is not really a "pissed off" that is directed at their opponents. All of this was brought upon themselves so the bottom line is that the only people to be pissed off at is your teammates for making bad decisions and thus bringing on the negative press.

I am not trying to be a dick...just my opinion.

I hear ya, but any good motivator/coach will try to turn this into a unifying, "us against the world" type of experience for the team.

I guess that was my point.

I guess I could see that also...good luck in the game!

On the contrary, I remember seeing that Austin et al. are indeed practicing with UNC currently. UNC only said they won't play in games if they're not cleared by the time the season starts.

An excellent point. Its a self-inflicted wound.

I just wonder how this might affect team chemistry. You know some of their teammates are P.O.'ed at them. Do they speak up, or, keep it inside? If they struggle to play well, would it cause a blow up at some point?

I bet there are some interesting conversations going on in that locker room these days.

So a couple of players do what's good for them, ignoring the impact to the TEAM, and the coach is going to try to spin that as "us against the world"? I would lose respect for the coach right there. Davis would be better off punishing Little and Austin if he wants to create a unifying experience for the team.

I agree wholeheartedly. If both are found to be in the wrong, punish them for it.
