I personally use copper lenses for sight fishing redfish. I have read that green lenses also work well. What color do most use?

depends on the sky and time of day

Overcast or early and late in the day Amber or Copper

Bright and Sunny middle of the day gray or Vermillion (green)

All around I would choose Vermillion.

I could talk for an hour on this.

It all depends upon lighting conditions and water conditions.

Whenever low light conditions a brown/copper base lens will brighten things up. In bright conditions gray lens is much better for keeping things from being "too bright".

FOr most of coastal LA a copper/vermillion lens is best. For blue water gray is better.

Mirrors help but are a MUCH smaller factor than the actual base lens color. As a rule of thumb blue mirror better blue water. I actually think a chrome mirror is better for coastal waters which is something Costa doesn't offer (but I do!)

THat's a quick response being I do optics for aliving I can go for ever on this subject.

Chrome...like silver?

Costa del Mar has been selling silver mirrored lenses for about a year at least now.

No combine an sliver and a brown it's almost a bronze mirror. Its something I came up with on my own and offer to my patients. (I sell costas so I am aware of the silver you are talking about)
