Word is...topwater has been getting the most action

I've always wanted to go set some lines in that river with carp to see if I could catch some flathead/spotted cats.

Which part of the Calcasieu? Down around Lake Charles or further north. We used to do lots of fishing in the river around Kinder and Indian Village. Small white spinner baits, the bass would tear up. Set lines at night, catch some good flatheads for a couvion (sp?). Man them was good times.

ward 8

now, most people know it as white oak park...north of iowa in lebleu settlement

trip was not great...only 3 bass made it to the boat....topwater was not working at all

launched around 5:30, and there were fish busting shad out of the water all over the place...from previous experience i figured it was lady fish, but wanted to know for sure. we threw for about 20 minutes and i only got one blow up on my chug bug. knocked it out the water, but didn't hang on

fishing was really slow today, but at least i was fishing

coolest thing that happened was while we were beating up the banks and a few piers....we were trolling along and i heard a bird flapping his wings, but not going anywhere. i look around to see this bird caught in a banana spider's web. i knew the webs were strong, but not THAT damn strong! i was going to leave him there for the spider's meal...only fair, right? nah, i circled the boat back around and got him out of the web. did my best of getting the web out of his wings and off his head all the while he was biting me...little bastard. anyways, i got him cleaned up pretty good and let him go on someone's dock. flew away thankful, i'm sure. here's a pic...took it because i knew nobody would believe me if i didn't prove it

i know it's a shitty picture, but i have a shitty phone, so deal with it. no, my buzzbait is not hooked into him, the web is actually holding him to my buzzbait. i doubt i'll ever see this again.
