I am looking for a good place, relatively close to campus... kid friendly, non-smoking, that has a private room.

I am looking for a place to gather after a baptism. I was thinking chimes, but they want to charge me all these fees to rent there wine cellar. I will have about 20-40 people, and want it to be a good value: good food, cheap price. Looking for a place, that would let me reserve the private room, for no extra cost.

Also, I am out of town, so would like a place that has good, local food.

Thanks for the help.

Mike Anderson's side porch. They do a nice buffet. It's private, not expensive, local food. Separate restrooms; private bar with bartender if requested. It is outside covered pavilion next to restaurant, but they have air conditioning units and fans. We've done several events there- Reunion, rehearsal dinner.

Actually no. We had a November event. They can lower wind breaks and have heaters as well as AC units. You might also check into the Faculty Club on campus.

I appreciate the tips, but
I not looking to get a buffet or anything, but just a restaurant that can accommodate a large party. No private bar or anything like that: something simple.

If you're looking cheap and simple, the only things with private rooms like that (and that I know of) are like Ralph and Kaccoos and Drusilla Seafood..

which are both disgusting

You're either going to pay for something nice or be stuck with yucky food.

Ever think about perhaps getting a room at a facility and having it catered perhaps by local talent? 20-40 people shouldn't be that bad, depending on what you want, and they can customize it to your budget better than can a restaurant. Probably get better food as well. Actually, you surely will get better. Just something to chew on.

I noticed the other day when I went to Bistro Byronz that BR High rented out the right side of the restaurant (bar area) for a reunion. It's practically a private room. People can see you, but it's the other half of the restaurant.

So that we understand, you want a private room, for 40 people, at no charge, with cheap, good, local food ordered off a menu. During the Christmas/New Year holiday season, kid-friendly, around the LSU area. Guess you also want separate checks for food and bar service. Right?

I've been planning events in BR for 15 years. I'll make one last stab at this. Mike Anderson's has a private room in the restaurant, might accommodate 40. Don't think they charge a fee. Good luck.

Drusilla Seafood has several different sized private rooms. No rent for room through the restaurant. They charge a room fee if you call the catering side. They can handle your sized group easily.

Not necessarily. I actually thought you might be taking a jab, but in retrospect, it might make sense.

Sorry to weigh in here with the obvious from me, but TJ Ribs on Acadian has the Coaches Corner on the far right side of the restaurant that seats up to 40 and there is no added fee.....Just Sayin!

Don't be sorry Beauxnes- I didn't know your capacity or policy.

OP, TJ Ribs would meet all your criteria, and the food is great local cuisine. We know them around here primarily for their meats- ribs, burgers, chicken- but they have a good selection of seafood choices as well. Beauxnes is managing partner and TD sponsor. He'll do you right.
