Define available. Pretty sure both Petrino and Del Rio were employed when Miles was hired. So that means EVERYONE was available.

This is the one that still bugs me. It was a complete clusterfrick. Miles wasn't going anywhere; there was no need to rush the hire at that point.

They tried to get SloFlo but couldn't come up with the $$$ to sign him. He's got an IQ of 161 ya know.

Wrong.

Del Rio was primed for his interview, but, as his agent properly pointed out, he had a clause in his contract forbidding him to interview for another position while the team was still playing.

The Jaguars were in the first round of the playoffs (I believe they were the 6th seed in the AFC). All Skip had to do was put Miles on ice for two days and interview Del Rio the Monday after the game (assuming they lost, which they did.)

Miles didn't have any other offers and wasn't going anywhere.

Instead, Skip hired him that Saturday and Del Rio never interviewed.

I don't think this is correct. I seem to recall that Bertman or another LSU rep was actually in Florida to meet with Del Rio and it didn't happen THERE b/c of owner pressure.

Apparently Bellichek was interested but LSU never called him back.

If LSU had just used two co-head coaches and waited a year then Coker would have been available.

eta: Jimbo Fisher was available. WHAT?!
