Are all LSU fans like you guys? Can someone please enlighten me so I don't start to turn on my own...

I live in Oklahoma now, so I don't see many Tigers fans these days.

One thing I have noticed about LSU fans when I have been to games on other campuses or in Atlanta. They are passionate. I guess I am predjudiced, but we seem to be much more intense. We palyed Va Tech in Blacksburg years ago. We lost and went to THE bar downtown. After several hours, I meet the manager by chance and he tells we really support our team. The night before the game was the most money the bar ever made. He also tells me that we brought many more fans to the game than their rival game with U of Virginia which is three hours away.

With this passion comes a desire to win every game, play in the championship game every year, and have perfect seasons. Very unlikely and unrealistic. I do have a feeling that if Saban were still in the NFL, the rants would be dialed back a little bit, but not that much. If by some happenstance Saban had returned to LSU, we would still have these rants although maybe not quite as pronounced.

Les Miles has to redeem himself some kind of way this year. I don't know what that means to everyone on the board. A perfect season to some or an 8-4 to others. We are in a tough conference, everybody knows it. To me Bama and Florida have a leg up on recruiting each year. Saban with reputation, and Meyer sits in the middle of a hotbed of high school talent. The left over recruits in FLA could field many a competitve team in any other conference.

What I think we have been seeing is the fact that we have a long time before football starts coupled to frustration. But we have to win. I can only imagine what this board will be like if we lose to NC in Atlanta. I have watched LSU shop for coaches throughout the years. When we hired Hallman and Dinardo, we couldn't miss. Start building more trophy cases. Archer turned out to be less than stellar also. Don't forget that coaches now seem to make the same amount of money that the TARP funds promised to Goldman Sachs. The people I want to see coach LSU, if it comes to that, don't give me the impression that they would come here.

Everybody wants success so bad that they lose it ocassionally. Some more than others. Some on the baord are more cerebral and thougthful. Some need to be a on cocktail of Prozac, Klonipin, Paxil, and Wellbutrin. Besides, the anonymity of this board lets people say things to others that they would never say to their face. It's just the way it is. The anonymity also leads some to believe that they know coaching and what's best for everyone. What we don't know about the team, the preparation, the injuries, wha has the flu, etc could fill volumes on game day. Can we do well this year? Yes I do think so. Will we? I sure the hell hope so.
