I know we hate to be considering the QB worst-case-scenario in August, but I'm actually looking for a ray of hope. So, assuming the worst for this recruiting season (i.e., Ely, Rivers, Brissett, even Oliver, all go elsewhere), I imagine we'll seriously begin the process of trying to lure away (spelled "highjack") an already-committed QB from some other school, correct? If this truly becomes the case, whom do we go after? Oklahoma State's J.W. Walsh ? Arky's Brandon Allen? Either Cody Kessler or Max Wittek from Southern Cal? Does anyone look promising? Or have all our eggs been shoved into just these few baskets?

I don't remember exactly what was said, but I think someone on her said both these guys were solid to USC. And they are both Cali guys, so it would be hard to get them to come here, especially this late in the process.

I think it would be hard to poach a QB from Arky as long as Petrino is there. Which will likely only be another year or two at most.

IMHO, I'd think it's Ely, then Oliver as worst case scenario. After that, I guess we could reach for guys like Prescott, Dewey, Manley, Barrett and Means.

Are Kessler & Wittek both drinking way too much of Kiffin's kool-aid? It's hard to believe at least one of them won't at least consider other options as this season progresses. I think those sanctions will hit that program hard, not to mention Kiffin's mediocre (at best) coaching ability. Unless they are fortunate & have almost no injuries, the lack of depth the next couple of years will also hurt them.

I agree that it would probably be in one of their best interests to look at UCLA or Cal or something. That being said, they are still Cali kids and aren't likely to move here. I mean have LSU even written or offered them a schollarship?

Why? If the coaches don't think he is that good, or if he isn't the right QB for LSU, or if the coaches were confident that they could get someone better (such as Ely) then why should they have offered Oliver?

Because of a situation like this. We could offer two guys in this class worse case scenario. The coaches may not have liked him now but the kid would get time to polish up.

I want a guy like Ely though trust me. I honestly wish that we could have gotten Jerrard Randall.

Northwestern surprised me in their bowl game against Auburn. They gave the faux Tigers all they could handle.

My point being that if the Northwestern coaching staff sees something in Oliver, maybe we should take a second look, too.

Not like we have better options at this point.
