Duck Blind Plans

Over the past few seasons I have hunted from a pop up boat blind, but I'm thinking about building a true blind this season. Does anyone know where I can find, or can they share blind designs or plans? Ideally my blind would hold up to four hunters. Thanks!

2 sheets of ply wood, cut a 3x8 and a 1x8 out of each sheet. Support floor with an outline of 2x4s with at least 2 cross ways across the middle. Suport with 4x4s driven in the mud at corners. You put the 3x8's end to end to create a 3x16 foot platform, use 1x8's end to end to make a 1x16 bench across the back. Then you have a 16 ft long platform to build a boat blind off of that will conceal a 14ft boat and motor.
Box and brush after that... hunts 6 comfortably.
Your thread looked lonely...

Basic design that I'm familiar with is long "chute" for the boat and a step up deck on the front to hunt from. Whole thing is maybe 20 x 6. use chicken wire or other material to help mount brush. Better yet, plant native vegetation on and around blind to blend it in.

Our blind
From there we are going to put chicken wire around it and rosos (sp?) once we are out there
Eta: first time posting a pic fro. My iphone so let me know if it is working or not

These are some good blinds, also remember to put your platform on the south side the blind.

Yeah that's legit. A flip thingy in the front is crucial nowadays.

That's a good idea. I don't think my 34" barrel would fit under it though.

My buddy has a 34 " barrell the key is it doesnt sit all the way down like that it stays at a 45degree angle while we hunt so we can look through it

Where do you hunt? A river? A lake? A bayou? Shallow water? Deep water? Open lake? Woods? Marsh?

any suggestions on converting a 10' bateau into a duck blind for 2-3 guys and a dog?
Posted on 8/2/10 at 12:46 pm to Bleeding purple
Doesn't seemed to be big enough for that load. Maybe two guys and a dog. Sounds kind of dangerous with a 10' footer.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought maybe putting a platform for the dog off of the transom. The boat will have no motor (push pole) and will be in 10 ' or less water so it can be stabilized with poles driven into the mud once in position.
Do yall build them with a spring operated top opening or just a narrow gap at the top?

Can you build a permanent blind where you hunt? Then push the boat underneath it.

We could but we are only hunting a 6-7 acre lake so positioning with the wind is crucial. A permenant blind can't take advantage of that.
Most of the time we just hunt from the bank but in the winter the lake sometines gets too deep to cross without a boat.

I have been thinking of building a catamaran out of twin pirogue hulls. It would give a great shallow water platform for fishing or hunting. Couple that with a small go-devil or air cooled outboard and it would work IMO.

Find a old pontoon boat and build a floater.
