Call of the year or more poor clock management?

This video link was posted on the SEC board and I couldn't help but think of the Ole MIss game last year. If this had been an incomplete pass would it have resulted in the same conversation that errupted after the Ole Miss game last year?
LSU had one timeout.

I was flipping my shite when LM didn't call his last timeout.
Then
TOUCHDOWN
Then
TOUCHDOWN

Easily 3 seconds left as he rolls out of bounds. Challenge would've gotten plenty of time back had he not caught it.

so we score and go up by 5, seems a 2pt conversion would be in order. No, our idiot coach kicks a PAT to go up 6. would have been funny had Auburn returned the kickoff for a TD and won by 1 pt.

Probably would result in the same meltdown. The difference is he had a QB, RB and WR that executed completely against Auburn. In the Ole Miss game, the playcalling of a screen pass, sack, not using the timeout, etc. resulted in big time scrutiny...and rightfully so. Plus add to it that LSU in 2008 and 2009 did not perform anywhere near the standard of previous years and you had one of the biggest meltdowns in tigerdroppings history.

Wow, you're brilliant. I've never thought of that. You should be our next coach.
Wait.
Unless, they pick off the 2pt conversion, run it back for 2, then make a long return that ends in a penalty and kick a field goal to win.
There was a second left. kick the PAT, and trust your special teams.

Was it the biggest? I try to avoid the rant after games like that because I don't want to get banned again.

It was a typical Miles call that year. He got arrogant, but it worked out for him. In reality though, it was more on Flynn there. He took his sweet arse time breaking the huddle and getting the play started.
Coaching blunder that got bailed out? Perhaps. QB being way to casual in that situation? Certainly.
I thought it was a stupid call period, TD or not, but it worked to LSU's benefit.

it would have been like the texas nebraska game. You see when he caught the ball there was still like 3 seconds left on the clock

It was a dumb arse call. He's lucky he got away with it. But I realized exactly how fricking stupid our head coach was on that play.

Hard to say what the biggest has been. I included tigerdroppings as a whole because the recruiting board tends to light it up each February (see McKnight). Had to be top 5 though.

Definitely. I actually like the idea to not call the timeout if you're gonna go for one shot (kinda like not letting the defense get set in basketball and just letting your playmakers make a play). However, Flynn was acting like it was backyard football. Fortunately it worked perfectly but that's on Flynn not Les.

I was yelling for a timeout. In the interview after the game, Les was talking as if he thought there was more time left on the clock. Glad it worked out though
