Are the online training classes legit? has anyone used a site to get certification?

I'm a biological engineer specializing in petroleum impacted sites, and we only do the online course. It's all common sense...waste of money and time for the most part.

Online training is becomming a big deal for companies to save money. I personaly think online safety training is worthless. If you have a question about something you have no one to ask, and the "test questions" at the end of the online training sessions are mostly common sense so you do not even get to apply everything you have supposedly learned. OSHA acttualy frowns on online training as the only means of training employees. However, I know a few people that are making a killing providing online training sites. You basicly charge about $100 for someone to watch a powerpoint presentation and take a multiple coice test, sounds like I am on the wrong end of the spectrum!

We do this a lot where I work. Nothing can substitute for having an instructor.

It is a big time and money saver. My company does it both ways and I think the local or online trainers are OK for this training. If you are an engineer you just need to slog through the course. Nothing will be new to you. Just make sure the company you want to work for and the EPA recognize the certificate so you don't waste your time.
